Average Spit and urine is fine however semen and blood are a no go If you swallow the semen will you become infected? That's why this report was made I don't understand why anyone pretends this is supposed to target homos-xuals as a separate group. I'm sure this organisation has a lot more to say about non-homos-xuals and HIV. This is the World Health Organisation ffs. Stop freaking out. This. Bitch and complain all you want, but in developed countries I'm sure gays have one of the highest rates of HIV. Why are you worrying about that instead of seeing a wonderful opportunity to diminish the stigma by slowly lessening the possibilities and rates of HIV infection? Was this person HIV+? The overuse of medication causes viruses and infections to evolve becoming immune though. Say we do give every OPENLY (remember OPENLY) gay man in the first world access to this medication and the numbers of the infected start to drop, the virus is still present among straight people who are now under the belief it's only a real risk to gay men and those who do not wish to "come out" are still at risk. The virus remains alive and will evolve. Contraception however is pretty much fool proof, if the virus physically can't spread it will die out. No, they were tested a few months before and were shown negative. But still. I don't know much about gay s-x related topics because I don't know any gay guys in real life. Sorry but this argument has no sense, especially for a health organization, you can still contract the infection in a monogamous relationship if your partner start to cheats on you with other people and you don't know it. And it happened A LOT. The only way to be sure (in s-xual behaviours) is always using the preservative to protect yourself. There aren't any other options for now. Why would straight people think that HIV is only a real risk to gay men? Nobody says that and everybody knows that straight people can get it too. I don't see why that would change when as much male gay people as possible are advised to take extra precautions. Also, in my opinion there is no change for the virus at all. If, like you say, every gay men would be protected by medication, the virus would still exist within the straight community, so the virus would develop whether or not gay men take it. Advising people to take medication for no good reason, that can cause a lot of unpleasant side effects is not ok. But over prescribing it will make the d--g eventually useless, what's the point in protecting a small percent of the population (10% of the population is gay roughly, so 5% are the target audience) when it'll cause the virus to evolve and become a bigger threat again? The problem is the fact that people always 'relate' HIV disease with GAY people. I heard a lot of times people who thinks that only gay could have it It's true that it was big deal-problem in our community during the 80's, but not anymore, in my country the majority of HIV+ people are straight women, so the organization should address to all the categories of people not only the gays, this is why I think some gay people are kind of offended by this article, because it seems only a gay issue. Why not take the funding from this, which is not a long term solution at all and use it to reduce the price of contraception or start offering contraception for free to more people? That way the percentage of people infected will go down as well as many other s-xually spread infections and diseases. I agree 100% with you, I think there's currently a problem with the thoughts on contraception and there should be more done to make it even more important. Ultimately, HIV infections ill only deplete if everyone hops on board with adequate protection. This medication could be the answer however it'll only be a long term success if it's available and used by everyone at risk, not just the most common? If they offered it to everyone and it completely halted infections then it's done it's job however only offering it to gay men will still keep it alive and allow it to evolve?
