Prometheus 1,494
Sad story but bad reporting on the newspaper... This is what happens when u lack a science education... Amoebas are not viruses, they're not even in the same family tree THEY SAID THEY WERE VIRUSES LIKE WHAT Since this is local they did an interview and there were people at the same lake today. They were all, "We discussed it with our kids and they were sure they still wanted to come. Life is too short to not enjoy stuff." I was like, "BITCH, YOU'RE GOING TO GET YOUR KIDS KILLED!" And then a guy who works at the lake was like, "People shouldn't be afraid. They should enjoy summer outside at the lake instead of inside." I don't get it. Like, someone died. So sad, that's why you have to clean your pools and not get into dirty lakes and oceans. Those amoebas get into your brain and in half an hour one can reproduce itself into 10 thousand more. They can't survive in clean pools and oceans (the oceans are too salty). Apparently they can even live in mud puddles and dirt.

The thing is that even If they get inside the same lake, the chances of them getting infected are very slim. Just think of how many people must have swimmed there through the years and nothing happen. Also from 1960s to now, only 132 people have been killed by this amoeba. Sure there is always a chance of infection, but they are more likely to die from something else than from this amoeba.

ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Just dont get into natural fresh bodies of water that are warm and un-chlorinated and you will be fine. If you do find urself in that situation some how, just dont go so deep into the water that it gets into ur nose, as the amoeba (excavate, but w.e) has to get to your olfactory nerves to infect you. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
