MJHolland 12,723 Posted July 17, 2014 Share Posted July 17, 2014 I watched this video yesterday about this Nash Grier kid (I don't really know him/watch his stuff/ever give him the time of day) by Michael Buckley (a very famous gay Youtuber/huge LGBT advocate) and I thought he had some very valid points. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2zChO-S_yE Nash Grier is a young kid. He's like 16 or 17 years old (or at least I'm pretty sure). I don't really blame him for being ignorant. When he apologized the first time, I accepted it because, well, why wouldn't I?! He's just a kid and I don't blame him for being ignorant, it's simply just not his fault, especially considering where he grew up (extremely conservative environment). I hope that in the future he will educate himself and in turn become less ignorant, but in the mean time we can only support him by telling him that what he is currently doing is ignorant and tell him why MATURELY. LGBT people/advocates don't advance the situation or make the world less bigoted towards ourselves if we call Nash Grier names. That just makes us just as ignorant as him. The move he is making here is obviously ignorant. Whether it's a joke or whether he was being sincere, I don't know, and I'm not going to pretend like I know what his intentions were. Try to remove yourself from the situation and look towards the ACTUAL solution to making the world a better, less bigoted and less ignorant place: education and compassion. He's just a kid, it's not his fault that he was raised in an ignorant environment. We should be trying to HELP people like Nash Grier and show them compassion, love, and understanding.
