I have all the respect in the world for the trans community. It's rough out there. I don't know how high the murder rate of Asian trans women is. To be fair, most of them pass REALLY well, and I'm not sure why exactly. There's also a lower amount of Asians in the United States than African Americans, I believe. Are you all saying that President Obama should wear a hoodie and baggy pants to stick true to himself and honor his race? This is not racist at all. Race doesn't determine the way you dress. Please don't feel that way :( What I'm saying is it's so funny seeing people in this thread (majority of whom are not Black men or women; I might be the only Black person in this thread right now) speak for us and say we're overreacting when, in reality, there are real issues plaguing us that will ultimately go unnoticed because we're apparently always "playing the race card." I was trying to say that if it were an LGBT issue, majority of the people in this forum (who for the most part are apart of that community) would be agreeing calling this an outrage, but as soon as something is potentially being done against someone of color, specifically Black, it's no longer an issue to them and we're just complaining. See the thing is, I can understand how you feel to an extent. I can't speak for you, but I can sympathize and come to an understanding that you and I do face struggles that men/women of certain privileges do not. I take transwomen out of the LGBT spectrum because the LGB and other s-xuality related matters regarding it are often very uneducated and discriminatory towards transwomen. It's a matter of gender identity and not s-xuality. I think transwomen know what it's like to be discriminated against because it's an everyday thing as it is for cis African Americans, but heightened, and the need for political correctness in proper pronoun usage to prevent dysphoria is high, as it is that cis African Americans do not want to be called offensive names regarding their skin color. A popular, sickening slang word against transpeople is "tranny" as is the "n" word to black people. Personally, I think "tranny" is a much more offensive word and something to be more upset about than the "n" word, but it doesn't stop me from giving respect to all people who deserve it. Although I'm not apart of the Transgendered community, I know and understand as a black male, I wouldn't want anyone using offensive words like the N-word to me, so I would definitely not use it to anyone else. I just want the people in this thread who don't get it to know that while it's not personally affecting them, it may affect someone else and hurt their feelings. The amount of offensive words thrown on this forum makes me feel less than a person at times, yet people laugh it off as if I should get over it. I completely understand what you're talking about, though. There's a difference between being curious as to how it hurts, and basically throwing down someone's opinion without wanting them to explain themselves. I completely understand what you're talking about, though. I definitely get how you feel too. I didn't get it as much when I identified as a gay male rather than a woman, but now I do. It's much more difficult to hide the fact you're trans than it is to hide the fact you're gay in most cases, and although I don't present as female yet I've seen a lot of experiences and I feel like I connect with that same or similar plight African Americans deal with on a daily basis. You contradicted yourself; you said ratchet wasn't a term associated with black people, rather, that it is with thugs in general.
