Does Gaga over-exaggerate her contributions to songs?

When it comes to the songs I'm pretty sure she does a million times more than people like Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, etc.

On Prism:

Besides Dr. Luke and Max Martin, who are known as producers/songwriters, the other songwriters listed on are:

Sia Furler, Bonnie McKee, Greg Kurston, Benny Blanco, Greg Wells, Henry Russell Walter, Klas Ahlund, Adam Baptiste, Sarah Theresa Hudson, Bloodshy & Avant, Vincent Pontare, and Magnus Lidehäll.

Last, but not least, is Stargate- a Norwegian record producing and songwriting team who is credited with 4 of Rihanna's BB #1s. They also won the 2009 ASCAP Pop Songwriters of the Year award.

The majority of Katy's songs have at least two songwriters, sometimes up to five. These are not synth guys or DJs.

These are people who win Songwriter of the Year awards!

and ? When Gaga has 7 writers for ONE song, don't bring me Katy has 5 writers and stuff. Professional writer ? Seriously ? I can claim myself to be a professional writer if I want. A major part of artists who makes melody are writers too, including the 7 DJ who co-wrote songs for Gaga.

Look the quote above.

You can claim to be a mermaid, but these people are known in music industry for writing hit songs for other artists.

She is just generous about writing credits. Any person sitting in the studio who suggests a word change that she likes gets credit. Simple as that.

The instrumentals in these songs, though almost complete, are not exactly the same. And like someone else said, she takes care of the wonderful vocal harmonies you hear when you listen to the leaked or filtered acapellas.

If you watch ANY of her stripped down performances, it is obvious she writes the songs herself. The level of care, nuance, and emotion she shows in these performances is that of a primary composer.

Anyway, this is why she chose to work closely with DJWS on so many songs, despite you all complaining that Zedd and "Godeon" are better  :ohwell:

I think she probably "over-credits" people sometimes....if her extensive G.U.Y credit list is anything to go by. It was like the credits of a feature film for an 8 minute video.

Venus : 5 writers

Jewels'n'Drugs : 7 writers

Fashion! : 4 writers

Applause : 7 writers

For ARTPOP, Gaga has up to 7 writers for 2 songs.

The others listed on Gaga's songs are not songwriters, by trade. They are not individuals who write lyrics to songs for a living. They are not people who are winning Songwriter of the Year Awards. They are not songwriting teams, or part of one.

They are DJs, Synth guys, and Sound Engineers.

For instance:

Dino Zisis

One-half of Chicago-based house music production duo Soundpusher (with Scott Gerbosi), Zisis is also adept as a rock guitarist. His non-Soundpusher credits in mainstream music only include working on Lady Gaga’s album.

Nick Monson

A producer, engineer and multi-instrumentalist, Monson worked with R. Kelly at the turn of the century on TP-2.com, along with more soul credits with Keke Wyatt, the O’Jays and the Isley Brothers. His work on ARTPOP is as a composer of synthesizer, bass and rhythm guitar arrangements.

William Grigahcine

DJ Snake (born William Grigahcine in 1986) is a producer, Disc Jockey based out of Paris.

How can you not tell that their is a difference between DJs and instrumental arrangers and lyricists? How do you not understand that those two types of professionals are brought in for specific purposes and they are nothing alike?

Yes, you could...but would that make you a person who is known for being a lyricist (you know, writing WORDS to music) to the top record labels? Would that make you a person that major record labels call in to help write the words to songs for the biggest names in the music? Would that mean that you win Songwriter awards from the music industry?

Because that is what these songwriters (lyricists) I have listed do.

I could say I was a DJ, but that doesn't make me Calvin Harris!

A major part of artists who makes melody are writers too, including the 7 DJ who co-wrote songs for Gaga.

Yes, they help write the melodies of the songs they are working on. That is different than a lyricist, or one who writes the words to a song.

Gaga writes the majority of her lyrics on the majority of her songs. Not two or three songs...not a few lines here and there...the large majority!

she says she wrote the songs, and I believe her.

of course there are a lot of people who helped that's not really surprising

plus the songs are great I don't see what's the fuss I freaking love Aura and Donatella

Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone

do you think 2 songs is ok for 4 albums ? gaga is credited for only 2 songs by herself, Katy 3.

The difference is that people working with gaga have confirmed that she is generous with credits and does the majority of the songwriting for her music. We have more than just Gaga's word for it.

I think everything she says is over the top. Is she a song writer? Yes. But I don't believe she actually controls the whole process of production. The only way she controls everything If she was the writer, producer, and mixer.

She's isn't. So yes. she does.

Gaga always credit her producers as co-writers because they collaborate in the whole process.

It is right to say that she writes all her songs because most major pop divas don't.

Rihanna doesn't write her songs and it is already confirmed by her producers.

Katy works with well know hit makers like Bonnie Mckee and Bonnie already said that she had the "teenage dream" concept first.

Madonna buys a lot of her songs. Many of her demos leaked and they are all sang by a not credited song writer.
