I feel like some think that even the slightest agreement of that sentiment is some admission that they don't like her as much. She has declined. Applause went top ten, that's great, but compared to her last lead singles it could be better. It definitely can and will get better, it's not even that bad at this point. It's just weird that all of a sudden the charts don't matter when we can't use them currently.

Because it's all relative. She is still huge compared to some local superstars who are completely unknown outside their own native country. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't deserve the success, they just weren't lucky enough to make it on the international market. If you expect Gaga to rule every part of the world, then surely she isn't at her peak at the moment. But she is still young and she has enough time to reclaim her position. I hope that believing in that is not considered being delusional here.

It's not like people who deny her decline(the ones you are addressing, right?) are gonna read it and be like "OMG I finally saw the light, Gaga's flopping. Thanks so much for opening my eyes". I'm sure she'll make a great comeback(at this point I hate this word so much... )with her next era. It's pretty normal to have highs and lows, she can't be on top forever.

AND even if Gaga makes it to number one on the chart? So? What does that prove? I think certain fans just want Gaga to be number one so they can use that fact to put down other musicians. It's always what certain fans do when their idol gets a number 1.

If Gaga was killing the charts right now, literally everyone would be bragging about how much ARTPOP has sold and how high her singles were charting. Since she's struggling this era, the charts are irrelevant and you're a fake fan if you bring them up.

Basically, if sales and charts are beneficial to praising/defending Gaga, then charts and sales are so important and they show how much she's slaying and how much better she is than everyone else. If sales and charts aren't that good, then all that matters is the music (except everyone keeps bragging about how amazing the tour is selling, so...).

This is what I hate about stan culture. You're not supposed to talk about anything that doesn't reflect well on your fave. You're supposed to change the way you discuss them in accordance with the path of their career so it is always flattering.

It's a lack of integrity. Stans have a need to always reach the same conclusion, so they manipulate and change the methods of reaching that conclusion. I just don't buy into that.

While in terms of chart success and popularity there has been a decline, it's unfair to say that "Lady Gaga is in decline" because that implies a decrease in the quality of her music and performances (which I would vehemently argue is not the case). 

 

I prefer to think of it as Gaga is in a period of transition, from her ginormous 2009-2011 levels of fame (which no artist can sustain forever) to a more stable following and level of sales.

If you've ever followed artists with careers that span decades, you know that there are high points and low points for EVERY artist. I've seen some artists come back from low points and some not. There isn't really a hard and fast rule here, and there is no way to predict what will happen 2...5...10 years from now.

 

One thing is for sure, it's too early to call the game as far as Gaga is concerned. There is way too much talent, vision, and ability in diverse areas within Gaga, to predict what will happen over the span of her career.

Yes. It's true. Gaga has actually declined popularity, fame and sales-wise. But what still keeps me relieved is that the quality of her music is still on a higher level and she's even getting better as q musician day by day.

Not a single person denies her numbers at down. The arguments come because some see it as THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT while others of arn't pressed about her being comparable with her peers.
