Katie 68
religion is a "sensitive" subject, the gp wont see it as metaphors when they hear "im in love with judas" This always astonishes me. I didn't realize the GP was so stupid. It's an OBVIOUS metaphor, and I'm not even that great at understanding metaphors until someone explains them to me. If you actually listen to the damn song, it's hard not to grasp. If you don't and are making comments about a song you haven't even listened to, you are an even bigger idiot. GagaDragon 10
When ARTPOP happened, i'm probably just a casual fan these days.
ShonfromBeyond 1
in the minds of athiests, this is laughable but in biblical sense, It talks about how EVERYONE will begin to worship the antichrist and somewhere, people speculate that judas will be the antichrist reincarnated or something like that. People will refuse to believe and follow christ in this era. Even with God's wrath upon them, they still worship the antichrist. Even with their blistered skin and suffering, they still rebel against God. There's more details on it, but I don't wanna input lies or anything like that. But even Gaga herself said, Judas is not a bad person and far from the "anti-christ", Judas had to betray Jesus, it was all apart of God's overarching plan. That's why she loves Judas and people need to understand that Judas is a metaphor for Luke Carl! Anyways I do think it did hurt her a lot, from what I remember Judas was kind of the last straw for the people who were already turned off by Alejandro and to a lesser extent Telephone. But I think a lot of the backlash was avoided, as most of the flak she got were just from rumors that she was going to release the video on Easter. JesseBabe 837
I like Judas and a few of my religious friends enjoy listening to the song as well, but I do agree with a lot of other people on here about how I don't think it was a smart decision to release it as a single. I remember during the whole BTW era I was just wanting for her to release Scheiße or Heavy Metal Lover as a single and it never happened. Slow song after slow song was being released as singles. I just ended up feeling a little disappointed.
Guest
I agree with everything. The 2nd pre-album single from BTW was bound to debut at #1. She had the hype enough to bring in huge numbers, even after the release of the lead single as shown by the first-week numbers of TEOG and the album itself. Until, Judas was named the 2nd single (w/c further alienated the casual mainstream music fans), and to make matters worse, it was rush-released in the worst timing ever. And looking back, it did cause her biggest backlash, chart-wise, in the long run. How? She has never entered the top three on the HOT 100 since then. TEOG, as the official third single, didn't even (re-)enter the top three on the HOT 100. Its peak was its debut when it was released as a promo single (i.e. its peak was fanbase-driven, and not radio-driven). And ever since the release of Judas, she has also yet to score a top three hit in the UK. After TEOG, she has also yet to re-enter the top three in Germany, a market she used to dominate after securing 4 #1s from TF(M). All of these clearly display how much commercial backlash she has suffered due to the release of Judas as a short-lived 2nd single. Yes, it's a great song. But a good single? Not even close. Whoa...I never even realized that about the charts...
Prometheus 1,494
People need to stop hating on Judas. It is lyrically magnificent (regardless of the reductive instrumental courtesy of RedOne). The video is stunning as well.
angelduuh 518
Wow I didn't knew people hated Judas so much... people overreacts too much.

Mary Magdalene in love with Judas... I get it. But Me Singing "I'm in love with the person that betrayed Jesus"... It's really hard to shake out of my head. I know she's using a metaphor but still :( Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko
Hello Mr. Radio 45
She got too arrogant about her work. She swears everything is revolutionary, but even Katy has better lyrics and melodies these days. Also, ARTPOP is just so bad. Whatever, she's still my queen

Her career isnt the same since then lol okay you just made this up but sure you've only heard it once... so you've never seen the video?
