Can Gaga afford another long break?

She can literally afford to leave her label and just play at bars for the rest of her life. That's how rich she is. Her fan base is big enough that she can sustain herself from people wanting to see her play in NY.

So all you pressed little pop twinks need to get it together. She doesn't need to do anything. The big budget eras we get are gifts. And, yes, the ARTPOP era is a big budget era. People are just too spoiled or stupid to see and appreciate that.

It's really up to Gaga.  She can do whatever she wants at this point...if she still has that hungry drive to be a #1 on the top of her game superstar then she will claw her way back to the top, manipulate the media and do whatever it takes.

If she doesn't have that burning desire then she won't.

I hoped she would release Act II on November 11th again (it's a Tuesday, so it's perfect) to coincide with AP's anniversary, but now it looks like that won't happen, which doesn't look as good when it's a 2 volume thing, but no matter. But as it's going to be a multiple volume thing, I really hope she doesn't take another huge break. Breaks are fine if you were successful with the last era, but you can't follow up a flop/underperforming era with a break. I really hope Gaga and her team are cooking up a proper, solid marketing and promo strategy for next time because she's using up too many chances. The pop world, and music world in general, is brutal. A select few go on to be legends but the majority only have success for about 5 years or so and then gradually fade out. Outwith their favourite artists, most people only own one album per artist. Expecting everyone who bought TF to carry on supporting her forever is delusional. But she does have the chance to have a second career peak (not as big as TF but a close second). Lots of artists do that. But in order to get that, she does have to make the most out of her time in the spotlight. Not becoming reclusive, performing everywhere, putting music videos out at the same time as singles, etc. Like a lot of people said, she should take notes from Katy's team. Katy has had all the best promo spots this era and it just makes me sad thinking of all these amazing opportunities that Gaga missed out on because she was fussed over DWUW and her management.

It's like, how hard can it be to work out a good album campaign strategy? Why can't they replicate what she did in previous eras? She's been all over the place this era - only doing a few select performances of the lead single (and none whatsoever in the UK, choosing to sing Venus instead), not releasing a music video for the second single and then coming out of her reclusive blackout with a new single and a huge music video...but not one piece of promo to go with it. I swear she did this on purpose to prove to her label that she could come out of nowhere, release a third single with no warning, drop an 11 minute video to go with it and it can gain millions of views despite zero promo (its got over 47 million in less than 3 months - MTN was only slightly longer and it took over a year to gain that many views and it got promo and charted better). But whether it was to prove something or not, she needs to pull her socks up next time. After BTW's and AP's problems, Interscope should be well aware by now of what works and what doesn't. A break is one thing, shoddy management choices are another. She can't have a third album in a row that had poor decisions. It's not fair on her or her fans.

I guess it depends on what context you're looking at.

As many have said, she should definitely pull some stuff together if she wants to get back in the "scene" again. The touring and performing aspects are all as good as ever, but it's undeniable that the promo has definitely been off.

However, as others have also said, she could totally just screw off and do whatever she wants with her art, because she's proven to us that while charting success is nice, she doesn't deem it a necessity for her art. Yes, it's definitely a heavy factor in the monetary push for many of her artistic visions, but we all know she has the capabilities to work around that and do whatever the hell she wants now.

3 points in and ready for more

It does not matter how long she takes a break for, as long as the material is good when she comes back.
