We live in the age of the internet

The only people who catch this stuff on the Internet are those who seek it out, i.e., fans. TV reaches people who aren't (yet) necessarily fans of the artist, just of the show -- or maybe who are just bored and watching whatever's on.

That's not comparable to promo on TV shows. Only fans listened to that.

I'm so happy she paid dust to Australia.

Why?

I'd understand her ignoring them if Live Nation hadn't booked so many arenas for ArtRave. Now I'm a bit worried. Maybe she plans on promoting there later on?

I don't get why you guys always put this in terms of HER not wanting to promote...

It's interscope who decides how much money they're gonna put into promoting this album.

Applause and ARTPOP's opening numbers were indicative of that. I think they knew this album cycle wasn't gonna be worth it. Because in the digital era, if something's gonna stick, it doesn't need promo. Fancy and Problem didn't have promo to start, but they slayed iTunes.

iTunes is super important these days. The small pool of people who clammer over singles with little exposure indicate what the general public will buy too.

Problem had huge promo campaign. Radio Disney Awards, Iheart radio awards, Billboard Music Awards, Ellen, Wango Tango, Dancing With The Stars.

Whatevs.

My statement still stands. A lot of songs suddenly pop out of nowhere on iTunes with no promotion. Word spreads on the internet if the music is good.
