Jeff Kunst 0
I could be wrong, but I think she was attacking the double standard she gets from the media and not Katy herself.
craig 680
And I'm pretty sure Gaga was not shading Katy. You can be sure Gaga feels flattered to be inspiration for other artists... Gaga is not a b*tch full of hate like Madonna. Gaga won't go further with Katy contrary to what Madonna did with Gaga... Exactly! It's only only some heinous rude insult if you think no artist is ever allowed to be influenced by another in any way. So Katy is influenced by Gaga in some ways. Big deal, give Gaga her due, move on.
Guest
I don't either.
Bye 3,947
But I don't like this kind of defense from Monsters. It basically gives in to the idea that Gaga is flopping and that other artists are doing better than her, I mean, is that even the case? She is not being upstaged with green hair or with platform shoes or with whatever accessory she accuses other people of copying. It doesn't even have anything to do with her "commercial decline". Gaga flopping? No, but major underperformance.... Other artists like Katy, since we're talking about her here, doing better than her? Definitely, yes. For a bland and generic artist like Perry her album has been a massive hit worldwide. And since her previous albums weren't even comparable to Gaga's it goes to show how much Gaga's been upstaged these last couple of years.
Haldy 1,258
I just wish she'd ignore things like this in general. I love her to bits, but she seems so concerned with what's going on around her rather than herself, her art and her fans.

Well, it's people's choice to care about this more than Gaga's actual released music/work. I personally find it insulting, but then again, if Gaga decides to choose for this interpretation herself then I can't blame anyone for following. Sure, the music comes first, but I'm sure Gaga would be hurt like any other artist would when someone who's copying her is doing better than her. It must bug Gaga that she came up with something bloody original at SXSW - and a lot of people dismiss it as "attention *****, disgusting, desperate, promoting anorexia." Then the sweetheart who is supposedly slaying does something similar. Doesn't that vindicate Gaga as a creative influence!

Well, the thing that people like me are protesting against is not that she's hurt (obviously not, she's human) but her decision to spread this energy on Twitter, something she would never have done a few months ago because she expressed so beautifully how she doesn't want the internet to be that kind of place. I'm not disappointed that she's hurt. I'm disappointed that she has to tweet about it.

Tropico 4,145
I could be wrong, but I think she was attacking the double standard she gets from the media and not Katy herself. This. Can we drop the topic please? It always just starts wars between Katy stans on here and people who find it as okay (like I do) ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

If she's not gonna say it to her face, I don't see the point of saying it to a million other people who are not even involved in the actual situation.
