Splattering paint has been a think since Jackson Pollock's paintings and probably even before that.  This needs to stop.

lols.  agreed.  I do think it's a bit odd that Katy is puking the green paint...and we all know how much **** Gaga stirred at SXSW....but Gaga didn't invent splattering paint.  Neither did Katy. Neither did Robyn.  Neither did Britney.

It's not a question of who did it first and who it was really copied from. You can't take that line when it comes to art as so many styles have been inspired and reproduced over the years but it doesn't mean they were copied. Plus, it's impossible to keep track of every artistic thing done in the media and who was the first to do it. It is also hard to pinpoint exactly who it was copied from if more than one person did it before. Three separate artists have done this whole "splashing multicoloured paint around" thing in the last few months - Foxes (Let Go For Tonight video), Gaga (SXSW performance) and Rita Ora (live performance where someone spilled various paints all over her white dress), in that order. When you consider that, it makes Katy's use of the same thing look like she's just hopping on one big bandwagon. When someone has put out a specific art-form in the media recently and you do the same thing shortly afterwards, it can understandably be called copying. Doesn't matter if someone did the same thing even longer ago - all that matters is what people are doing now. This is why it's important to research your artistry and make sure no one's doing anything similar at the same time. If it's fresh in people's minds, that's the first thing they'll think about. Paint splashing was one thing, but the coloured puke was quite another. That story was featured on every bit of US media - there's no way Katy and her team didn't notice it. Doing the same thing just makes Katy appear like she's trying to get a bit of that same controversy and exposure. No one else is doing puke performances right now, so what other logical conclusion is there?

 

I'm telling you, I'm officially done with Katy Perry. First, she released a terrible album, then the whole Katy Keene thing and now stealing artistry from other singers. Three strikes, you're out.

To be fair, Katy's paint interlude reminds me more of Britney's Hold It Against Me during the breakdown sequence. I do, however, see the similarities. Idk. Let Katy do Katy. Let Stefani do Stefani.

Actually that's true, especially when the paint is flying all over the place. But obviously the "puking" will remind people of Gaga because only recently the SXSW festival made the news everywhere.

 

I don't care about Katy Keene, I like a lot of her songs, she irritates me but it doesn't mean I want the media to destroy her. I just want them and the general public to be fair. Gaga is constantly accused of a million things, so Katy rightfully deserves some criticism for her lack of originality for this tour, which isn't only emulating certain Gaga ideas, but also other female artists'.

When will people understand the fact that the whole point of this isn't Katy copying the splattering paint, but the fact that she insinuated at puking paint? There's a difference.

 

Katy knows EXACTLY what she's doing. Now, I don't know what's the point of her doing all these, maybe it's to rile up Gaga's fans and add fumes to this whole Gaga vs Katy thing, but obviously it's intentional.

 

Splattering paint can be a coincidence, but don't tell me her sticking her finger into her mouth to puke GREEN paint is a coincidence, because that means you're delusional. Not after Gaga did the exact same thing just a few months ago which stirred up so much controversy.

 

When Gaga "copies" something, she usually takes ideas from YEARS ago and makes it her own. What Katy is doing now is basically googling "lady gaga" and clicking on "Recent Images" to draw her ideas from. I mean, at least put in effort in trying not to be so blatant if you're gonna borrow ideas lol.

 

btw, BuzzFeed should just change their name to GagaFeed. at the very least they're doing a better job of providing POSITIVE Gaga scoop than some of the threads here.
