I really loved this episode, and how it focused on michonne and Carl.

I can't wait to see next weeks episode though, finally an episode with some Beth, they barely ever give her any show time unless its her feeding the baby, I really want her to break out of her shell in a similar way to carol.

So I just started watching this show today , a little late I know

I watched two episodes if the marathon that was on today because it popped up in my guide and I said hey why not let's see what the whole fuss is about and I enjoyed the episodes . I made a netflix account just to watch the first 3 seasons of the show lol in in episode 2 of season 1 I hope they show how it all started cause is love to see the panic and everything lol

I think I'm gonna get hooked . I need to catch up and it may take a whole but I won't give up lol

That was a weird and unusual episode, not saying I hated it, I actually really liked and welcomed the change. In this episode they used a different way of storytelling and sequencing than they normally do. Based on this episode and the previews, the rest of the season seems like it'll be strong on characterization and character background.

Carl was a prime dick and asshole in this episode. It really showed how he really isn't ready to be a leader. I love how this episode showed how immature and grown/strong he is at the same time. He got to be a kid again.

Idk if I'm delusional or reaching but I was catching and seeing homages to previous seasons/episodes left and right:

- dead horse ( past: Rick's horse getting killed in Atlanta. Present: governor's horse lying on the battleground.)

- the abandoned tank ( past: tank in the middle of Atlanta. Present: blown up tank from prison battle.)

- rick unconsciousness (past: Rick's coma. Present: Rick's concussion or coma in the house.)

- michone's zombie pets (past: Michone's family members. Present: the governors former men.

- zombie pileup ( past: when rick and Shane get in a huge fight and 3 zombies topple on him. Present: 3 zombies topple over Carl after he trips.)

I also thought Carl's behavior was also similar to how Daryl used to act and treat others.

"My people… need to let our bitchiness out. Otherwise, it turns to bile and poisons us"

Carl was scared, not being a dick... he was masking his fear with anger, trying to stay strong. Then he broke down when he thought that Rick was actually dead. He was just scared of being alone. People forget that while being mature, he's still just a kid living in a world with danger around every corner, who has lost his mother, sister, home, and family. All he has left is Rick, and he's petrified of losing him, and all of his emotions just manifest themselves as anger. He's not angry at Rick, but at the world.

My GOD, this episode was actually perfect. Easily among my favourite episodes ever. Michonne's backstory and Carl's emotional breakdown were perfectly acted and just perfect in every way. Good god, this was some high quality stuff. Michonne's kill count went up by like 50 in just one scene. :rip:

This episode (the Rick/Carl stuff) was really similar to the comic, which is great. It's such an important moment in their relationship.

"It's for you."

Thanks

The door: "I win" :derpga:

I enjoyed the episode overall. It was a little slow and a little too Carl-centric, but it was really nice to learn about Michonne's past. The dream was a really creative way of doing so.

All of the hate towards Carl

He is such a good actor and he obviously was just reacting out of the fear and aner of his father dying. For all he knows he is alone, his sister is gone (missing maybe), and the whole group is separeted. Rick let him and the group down so he has all the right to be angry. I just saw him acting like typical teenager acts trying to show that he is grown when he really isnt.
