Neptune 156
I can see some similarities, except Madonna brought a complete new sound with Erotica while exploring with totally innovative lyrics... on the other hand ARTPOP is only a reloaded version of Gaga's earliest works (aka The Fame) Because Gaga did edm during The Fame. Please, stop finding excuses for your hate.
Pop Muse Tumblr 1
i see some similarities, but ARTPOP will not get the same applause as Erotica IMO. the other similarity i see are both popstars' abilities to do stadiums during their 'flop' eras: however, madonna did STADIUMS/PARKS on 31/39 tour dates (including two half-stadium shows in Skydome/Rogers Centre in Toronto) on the Girlie Show Tour, including countries like Turkey, Japan and Israel gaga will do stadiums/parks for artRAVE, both only in Greece, Japan, Turkey and (possibly) Israel as the sole headliner (so not counting Quebec City and Seoul). of course, madonna was 10 years into her career and gaga is now 6 years into hers, so gaga is still doing well- just not in australia
Levine 23,679
Welp, after Erotica Madonna's reached the "full success" again with Music, 8 years later. Am I right?
Psychedelic 1,098
Because Gaga did edm during The Fame. Please, stop finding excuses for your hate. Hate??? I'm sorry but that's no hate, it's just my point of view which actually pretty objective. Even stans know that the lyrics in ARTPOP do not explore any new subject except maybe for Swine. And the some sounds might be new but in general she keeps doing electro pop, which is very different story to MAdonna going from 80's bubblegum pop to 90's dance-pop with Erotica! VforVendetta 2,024
The comparison is not even close. Girl...Madonna really went ALL out with Erotica. Gaga's puke controversy is childs play compared to the Erotica music video full of bdsm imagery, her Sex book, her controversial interviews. Mind you this was done in the early 90s. It was not something a female pop artist did. No just no. I agree. ARTPOP Era wasn't even made to be controversial. It has a very unique concept. Erotica era didn't have a unique concept, it was about s-x and it was extremely controversial.
TRYMCNL 143
Absolutely agree with the OP. A valid, not completely unnecessary comparison to Madonna.
HANZ 4,380
agreed hopefully gaga will have her bedtime stories/ray of light with her next album but I'm honestly more than sick with the madonna-gaga comparations look I just made one, agh My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

Psychedelic 1,098
Keep trying. what's the sense of you quoting me, if you cannot accept one opinion without being a deluded stan for one sec... byeeeeeeeeee!
Hewkah 48
Keep trying. You're clearly an over sensitive Gaga stan. This forum is about opinions. By no means was Acid Monster preaching hatred in his/her first post. Hilarious.

Hilarious. And I gave my opinion about his opinion, which I thought was biased. So please quite talking about me or my behavior because you don't know me. Valextra 58
I like your argumentation and I am kind of agree with your points about the similarities, but in my opinion the only things that they have really in common are the low sales and singles charting (now 'Erotica' has sold more than 6 millions). About the rest, 'Erotica' has became iconic, critics revalue the project, all the era, the videos, the book, beside the low sales, it had a huge impact in the pop culture. Sadly I can't say the same for ARTPOP, the concept of 'Erotica' was more 'clear' and impact better the GP. I love ARTPOP musically speaking, and some things that she has done in this era are really amazing (the cover and the 'Applause' video, plus some performances and photoshoots), but I think the concept of the album wasn't clear at all, especially compared to the concept of 'Born This Way' or 'The Fame', I think Gaga lost herself in a project too much ambitious and difficult to make. I think that in the future this album will be revalue only for the music but not for the concept.
VISION 52
Very similar eras in terms of success so far One thing for sure is that Gaga will become a legend. Having such huge talents and her creativity, she absolutely cannot not become a legend. Pop music is her b*tch Definitely Madonna-sized artist Maybe biased opinion, but I feel that it will happen
