I'm shocked by MR's numbers, longevity, slayage, etc.  Who woulda thought it would be this much more successful than her other ballads?  Poor Speechless and You and I.    

MR is a single released in 2016..aka during the streaming age. You And I and Speechless were released far before streaming took off. Perspective matters. It's an unfair comparison. 200M in 2018 is ok at best but MR did well all things considered of course.

This is true - Million Reason also had the honor of being performed at the most watched television event on the planet. Also, Soccer Moms took to it like ducks to water.... don't underestimate the purchasing power of the average soccer mom 😜

Agree but it's also worth noting that MR had almost no support from Spotify through playlists like, say, The Cure, so it's still impressive

What's most impressive is that TF & TFM (albums released in 2008-9) outstreamed or are close to Joanne..an album released in 2016. Yes Joanne's sound is not what is typically smashing on streaming but still...albums that are a decade old are holding up against a rather new release. That's super impressive

I manually put these stats together from Spotify's public streaming numbers. You see those by hovering over the songs popularity bar on the web app, located next to the songs run time. It's tedious, but worth it for me because I'm a statistics fanatic.

Yes impressive but not shocking. The growth from streaming services in the past few years alone is insane. You and I could of done as well or better than MR if streaming was as big as it is now back when it was released as a single. But yes MR was the saving grace of the Joanne era! It's the gem that helped lift the era
