ryanripley 86,575
yes, Jurassic Park is based on a book! a lot of people i've spoken to about this (me included until about 2 months ago) had no idea the movie was based on a book so i decided to give it a shot and BOY let me be the first bottom to tell you: this book is amazing there is a lot of drama and build up in this that the movie really missed out on and honestly, they could remake the movie with a way more true-to-the-book storyline and it be an almost new movie some minor differences: in the book, Tim is the older sibling (11 years old) whilst Lex is only 8 years old in the book, Dr Grant is described as having a beard and being a huge fan of kids (in the movie, he hates kids ) in the book, raptors are described to be yellow with brown stripes and at one point are spotted on a boat that's leaving Jurassic Park in the book, Gennaro (pictured left) is decribed as being muscular and his spot in the car (in the movie when rexxy break outs) is taken by Ed Regis in the book (pictured right) i didn't want to talk too much about the plot but the book is absolutely worth the read if you're a huge fan of the movie has anyone else here read it? i'm only about 50% of the way through https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
Retron 2,605
I loved the movie so much as a kid, I asked my mom to pick up the book. I (nor my mother) had any idea what I was in for. She was just happy I was interested in reading, so she dutifully got it for me. It's so different from the movie, so much more violent, intense, frightening. I was 10; way too young. I loved it. I need to reread it.

andreas85 391
I've read most of Crichton's books including this one. I wouldn't compare it to a movie because they aren't even meant to be similar. Both of them are exciting and memorable in their own ways. The best moment in the book is probably the one where Grant and the kids try to sneak past a sleeping t-rex.
