Exclusivity Deals promotes Piracy

Frank Ocean's Blonde album racks up over 750,000 illegal downloads in less than a week after exclusive Apple release

http://www.thedrum.com/news/2016/08/29/frank-oceans-blonde-album-racks-over-750000-illegal-downloads-less-week-after

"While it's common for top artists to go exclusive, data on Blonde from content protection, data-analytics and ‘piracy audience reconnection’ specialist Muso, proves that it is somewhat of a double-edged sword."

"Streaming giants like Apple are willing to stump up large sums for exclusivity, but fans' frustration over lack of access has so far been seen to cause an uptick in illegal downloads."

I said it before in another threads: I am against this deals and I always said that the only one benefiting from them is the AM service and not the Artist. This is huge numbers and imagine if this happens to Gaga. The number will be insane. People don't want to feel obligated to subscriptions to hear their music. Spotify is right to punish those who go after this model. It doesn't work and frustrates fans.

That's what I've said all the time, but someone said that Apple Exclusive prevents piracy :duck:

Edit: Mess. Thankfully it doesn't prevent privacy :poot:

Music shouldn't have to be this inaccessible.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

It's expected tbh.

People aren't going to sign up to streaming services for a single album-  These exclusive are trying to force fans into "buying" an album that they want and they don't actually get to own it. It's like taking away all the reason streaming became popular in the first place.

Streaming is indeed the future but we need to strike a balance in order to prevent illegal downloading. And apparently exclusives aren't the solution :duck:

The solution is buying Spotify and remove it from the world

If you think that I should have to pay $9.99 a month to listen to ONE ARTIST'S track or album, and that I can't get it anywhere else... F U. I will download it illegally before I pay for Apple Music. It's not worth it for someone like me that doesn't listen to $10 worth of music per month. Plus, I WANT to give Gaga my coins, she deserves it for her hard work. NO EXCLUSIVES (Unless it is for like 1-2 days)
