YaaaasGaga 6,119
So, I was thinking about who today's pop divas are and their equivalents of pop divas from past generations. I don't think any of them are replacements for anyone at all as everyone is their own artist with their own style, but these are people who I think are thought of in the same/similar way to artists that people thought the same of in the past (if that makes sense?). No one is the new anybody, so don't drag me please haha. What do you guys think? Lady Gaga - Madonna/Cher Beyonce - Whitney Houston/Gloria Gaynor Rihanna - Janet Jackson/Chaka Khan Taylor Swift - Dolly Parton/Blondie Miley Cyrus - Cyndi Lauper/Bjork Lana Del Rey - Nancy Sinatra/Courtney Love Adele - Celine Dion/Aretha Franklin Katy Perry - Shania Twain/Kylie Minogue Britney Spears - Olivia Newton-John/Madonna Christina Aguilera - Barbra Streisand/Shirley Bassey These are loose comparisons of course. Is there anyone else you think todays pop divas are the equivalent of for our generation from years past?
PaperIz 7,261
Britney would be more of a Madonna figure since she altered pop music so much but I enjoy the others. The Miley one is on point though

Didymus 32,745
I don't think any of those work. I don't think any of them can work even in theory. Their careers are too different.

Edited those two now And Olivia Newton John I thought Britney was similar to in the start of her career being quite innocent, but Olivia made the transition from sweet and pure to more sexual later on too. Plus, I think her role in Grease is a great comparison to Britneys journey haha.
