Lady Gaga Scores First UK Number One Single In 8 Years

Lady Gaga pulled off a major achievement on the UK singles chart this week as her latest single "Shallow" with Bradley Cooper climbs 4-1, dethroning last week's leader "Promises" by Calvin Harris and Sam Smith. The lead single from A Star Is Born shines bright atop the chart with 40,000 units sold in its fourth week.

"Shallow" becomes Gaga's first number one single in the UK in over eight years. Her previous chart-toppers are "Just Dance" (2009), "Poker Face" (2009), "Bad Romance" (2009), and "Telephone" with Beyoncé (2010). (It is worth noting that Gaga's smash hit "Born This Way" was released in the middle of the UK chart's tracking week to coincide with the U.S. release. As a result, the song only debuted at No. 3 as its massive first-week sales were split between two separate tracking weeks.)

On the album chart, the A Star Is Born soundtrack climbs back to No. 1 for a second non-consecutive week at the summit.
