https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOwfWQfD_YD/?igsh=enhlYWVwa285ZDlp David Letterman has spoken out in defense of talk show hosts who have been cancelled as a result of right-wing ideology. He said that this hit close to home for him as a talk show host of 20 years. He warns that the path of authoritarianism is dangerous, and he states that the US is on the way to a dictatorship where anyone could get silenced. ---- Keep speaking out. I know that, just like Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman could be controversial. However, bowing down to authoritarianism by censoring people is wrong.18 points

Taylor Swift is heading for a huge comeback following her engagement with Travis Kelce. The pop icon is reportedly gearing up for the debut of her next album, The Life of a Showgirl. Recently, she was spotted avoiding cameras at Kelce’s NFL game in Kansas City. While this action left fans confused, rumors suggest that it is all part of Swift’s smashing return to music. Yesterday, Taylor Swift left fans surprised by sneaking into Travis Kelce’s recent NFL game against the Philadelphia Eagles. A fanpage had posted a video of a few people dragging a movable carrier with the “Bad Blood” at the Arrowhead Stadium. Swift was seemingly hiding behind it to dodge the paparazzi. The caption read, “Taylor Swift entered tonight’s Chiefs game behind something covering her.” Moreover, the singer’s mother, Andrea, and her brother, Austin, were present at the stadium to support Kelce. After endless speculation, E! News confirmed the Grammy Award-winning singer’s presence in the match. Netizens were confused by Swift’s move to secretly attend her boyfriend’s game, which she hadn’t done before. However, as per Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop, this is all part of the musician’s big plan for her musical comeback with The Life of a Showgirl. An industry source told the portal that the 35-year-old is “keeping a low profile now so the impact will be massive when the album drops.” They further added, “She’s about to launch the biggest push an album has had since Thriller.” Additionally, Swift’s 12th studio record is reportedly positioned as a cultural takeover. Another insider stated, “We’re talking wall-to-wall coverage — TV, streaming, social, stadiums.” “Once October hits, Taylor will be everywhere. This is the calm before the storm,” they continued. https://www.realitytea.com/2025/09/16/taylor-swift-hide-travis-kelce-home-game-plan-comeback/12 points

people act so entitled, the horrors of her trying to make a trend on Tiktok And then building this narrative that the song is bad, literally her own fans starting this... she should make ballad albums for the rest of her life, I hope LG8 is FULL of DWAS's, then her "fans" won't complain about the lack of commercial sucess, but the commercial success won't be because of this fanbase, that's for sureeeeeee. And don't get me started with people saying that TDD isn't worthy of being MAYHEM, it was literally done in the MAYHEM sessions.. Entitled AND ungrateful11 points

Taylor Swift will be returning to the big screen in October. She’ll be seen in thousands of theaters not with a traditional feature film, but with an 89-minute “release party” event, “Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” starting on Oct. 3, the same day that her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” comes out. The “party” — a sort of mass version of one of Swift’s vaunted “secret sessions” album events — will run in cinemas on Friday through Sunday of Swift’s album release weekend. Locations will include all 540 AMC Theatres locations, in keeping with the superstar’s ongoing deal with AMC Theatres Distribution to handle her big-screen product. It will also roll out in thousands of non-AMC locations in North America as well, including Cinemark and Regal theaters. Screenings will begin simultaneously across time zones at 3 p.m. ET/noon PT on Oct. 3. The first and foremost attraction for many Swifties will undoubtedly be the premiere of the first music video from the new album, for the song “The Fate of Ophelia.” Other elements in the program’s promised 89-minute running time will include footage shot behind the scenes at the “Ophelia” video shoot, lyric videos for other songs on the album, and Swift’s “never-before-seen personal reflections” about those new songs. The film will be specially priced in theaters during its Oct. 3-5 run, at $12, before any added online booking fees. (Although 13 has long been notable as Swift’s self-proclaimed lucky number, “12” has taken on larger meaning in her “Life of a Showgirl” era: it’s the singer’s 12th album, and it contains 12 songs.) Tickets go on sale today at (when else) 12:12 p.m. ET. As for the international rollout, the program will be seen in more than a hundred countries outside the U.S., albeit not all simultaneously. Quite a few territories will get the “release party” concurrent with its Oct. 3-5 U.S. release, including Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Tickets for showtimes in those countries will go on sale this coming Tuesday. Other countries not included on that list will get the film on a later weekend in October, to be announced on or around Oct. 3.9 points

Basically it's the same with the 2020 Urban Outfitters release, the only difference is the hype sticker. EDIT: more difference on the vinyl sleeve which is matte, the 2020 UO release is glossy.9 points

I think a difference between TDD and ABRA was that many fans were going back and listening to ABRA every day multiple times a day because it was such a great song and video. While TDD has stuck with me over time and it’s a good song I think realistically it’s had a somewhat muted response from the fan base. Without the fans listening to it day in day out we are relying on the gp and that’s losing us plenty of streams.8 points

Why are you so upset? Lol TDD is not doing DWAS or Sabrina Carpenter-numbers, sure, but it's doing decent. I mean pre-MAYHEM, 2M daily streams would have been a dream scenario for many of us for a Gaga single. If it maintains this level for a few weeks, that's great. If it falls, then that's life. Both scenarios are still possible, though, and it's not wild to hope for a better run ahead. I just think if people having hope for the song triggers you so much, maybe stop browsing. Me personally, I love the song, so I'm here to root for it whether it becomes a big hit or not.7 points

Oh god. Can’t wait to have her shoved down my throat by her rabid fans all over social media7 points

I've always wished Gaga did something like this... She loves acting so making movies to complement the album experience would be amazing. Imagine not only getting music videos but also films. A Chromatica one exploring the world she presented in the Stupid Love video and we never saw again, a MAYHEM one exploring Mayhem's origins and that story being the prequel of the tour storyline... She's really missing opportunities to do more acting but with her being in full control over the creative process. A Harlequin film without the dumb people that fumbled Folie à Deux That one would've been more difficult but her relationship with WB was good enough to get rights to adapt the character or something lol The way she could've done stuff like this for all her albums7 points

You're talking as if the song is over lmao The song is still pulling +2M streams, charting all over europe and top 10 global hit. Unsure what you want lol And any other song from mayhem would have FLOPPED compared to TDD lol7 points

For real, DWAS and even Abracadabra were monumental and spoiled us as a fanbase. TDD is doing better than I expected any Mayhem single to do.. Even if there are better songs on the album. I'm just grateful she has a way to keep the era going and bring it some more attention for the GRAMMYs6 points

This. If you don't like the song, ok fair. But why the need to constantly downplay the track and her artistic integrity. Agh sometimes her core fans piss me off like in here. It's always nitpicking this or that. 🙄5 points

yeah, it’s starting to look like it’s over. Even if it’s still stable and not dropping harshly, we don’t know how bad the weekend drop will be and if it will recover. Its just not showing signs of sticking with anyone sadly. Fans are not too enthusiastic about it and the GP hasn’t really picked it up either. All in all, I think this was a great test for Gaga and her team to know what type of singles to choose going forward. In the end, if a radio friendly generic funky pop song didn’t do it, it’s best to stick to the hardcore edm dark pop fans love. Abra had much better legs than this and that was probably because, even if the GP and radio didn’t pick it up, the core fanbase was too invested, too in love with it and that kept it doing numbers. Times are changing and it’s not worth it to appeal to the masses. You simply can’t. It’s time to appeal to your fans and hope there’s enough of them to keep you going. Had TDD been more of a fan favorite sound, I’m sure it would’ve performed better. Sometimes I wish Gaga had a fan advisor on her team to champion for what trends and things little monster want. TDD was absolutely against everything that we know works, from sound to visual, and even tho Gaga often times knows best and this was a good one-off test, it could be beneficial to be more close to what fans are more sensitive to nowadays with the current state of the market.5 points
