I don't think so. I liked it at first but it wore off on me quickly unlike other songs that grew on me(Donatella). There are so many more catchy songs with great choruses on ARTPOP.

Also looks like radio pretty much dropped MJs song already. It was getting played every hour on every station yesterday. I've only seen it played twice on the 5 stations I follow so far today.

OMG i read MJ as MJH and i thought radio stations played it every hour and i was like wtf xD :flop:

Without the media outcry (along w/ more promotional push), I'm fully convinced that she could have scored 7 consecutive number ones on Pop even before BTW. She had the world under her hands back then.

Gaga couldn't even score a number one with Bad Romance...freaking BAD ROMANCE! Radio has never treated Gaga's songs like they treat KP's songs. Bad Romance has way more of an impact on the past decade than the majority of Katy's number ones. If BR would have been a song by Katy, radio would have MADE SURE that it hit #1, at least for a couple of weeks! What about Paparazzi only getting to #6?  No, Gaga would not have had 7 #1s...that distinction was and still is reserved for Katy, by radios pushing every one of her songs as hard as they can get away with!

Gaga wasn't the kind of artist that was non-polarizing. She wasn't an artist for all the religious/conservatives and little girls and their mommies. She has always pushed buttons and starting with the meat dress...then Alejandro...then BTW, (and everything surrounding it- with the constant, vocal, in your face support of the LGBT community) she started pushing too many in the U.S. When she killed her momentum in the U.S., by being more than a Pop Tart, that was it.

Bad Romance was against Tik Tok. A song that had big impact in the US. it even had a week selling 600k+ and sold more in the end. Not even Katy Perry could have got a #1 if she was against Tik Tok.

1. Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars 1.0000 1.0000

2. Ariana Grande - Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea) 0.9464 0.8236

Problem coming for that number one spot (again) fast!

A lot of it also depends when the single is released and what other songs are on the charts. Bad Romance had **** luck, had it been released any other time it would've dominated the #1 spot. Regardless, #1s are quite irrelevant. Gaga had the reputation (and still does to an extent) of creating songs that stand the test of time, whereas Perry really doesn't. She had a lot of #1s that are easily forgotten once they fall down the charts.

I do agree that with Born this Way she really became too polarizing for her own good. I actually didn't listen to Gaga until I heard ARTPOP. Then I listened to Born this Way and actually really loved that album. BTW is probably my favorite album of hers, despite some of the songs bordering on cliche anthems (Born this Way, Hair). However, I hated the era before giving it a chance because of some of the antics. I really don't like the song Born this Way due to it's anthem feel, but it also (to me) is so out of place on that album.

In the end I do think her antics in the BTW Era negatively impacted ARTPOP and that there were a lot of people who would never have listened to ARTPOP regardless of how great it is. I actually really like ARTPOP, despite there being a few songs I don't really listen to (Jewels N' Drugs, Swine) and listening to me it is what made me like Gaga and it's kind of the reason I fight for her music because I think this album deserves a better chance than it's been given.

It wasnt radio fault that Bad romance didnt hit no 1. It sometimes happens, when 2 songs are slaying next to each other that one of them gets stuck at no 2.

The label is the one that it should look more closely to things like this, if they care for them. Interscope doesnt seem to care if the song is no 2 and not no 1. Capitol does and makes sure to maximaze every move they made with a remix or a discount.

Bad romance didnt hit no 1 :

because of tik tok

because in US it was to close to Paparazzi, that was on radio everywhere when Bad romance came

because the impact of the song on sales was shared with album sales

Radio is far from beeing a reason. Not sure, but I think it was one of the situations where things were fair on paper : Tik tok was no 1 ( or higher) in sales. It was also no 1 on radio. Bad romance was no 2 ( or under Kesha) on sales. It was no 2 on radio also at that time.
