Aciid 0 Posted April 8, 2014 Share Posted April 8, 2014 Daft Punk (1), Kesha (1), Timberlake (2), Miley (2), Rihanna (2) - lot of hyped artists haven 't has success beyond the 2nd single, or even the first one. Hard to think of anyone since Jan 2013 with 3 really successful singles, except Mackelmore One could argue that most of those singles were much bigger than Applause, specially on a worldwide scale. Applause was a hit, but it was no Wrecking Ball, Diamonds or Get Lucky. And I'm not sure about this, but their respective albums also did better with the exception of Ke$ha. I'm not saying Gaga is over cause she is not. People have albums that under perform all the time but I don't see how their eras compare. I'm happy with the GUY era. Great video, good performances and a very happy Gaga. I'm not sure why people expected a smash when the song itself is not an instant catchy song, it takes a while to get into. When I brought it up people here drew claws. Same thing happened in November I was one of the first ones to notice that DWUW wasn't performing as expected... I got ripped apart for that. It wasn`t retro urban in the 70`s disco-funk sense that is popular, but more in the 2004 R&B sense which is not on trend. That`s why Beyonce isn`t smashing with her singles either.
