She's the reigning face of Mainstream Top 40 since late 2010, the same title Gaga used to carry back in 2009-2010. Once Birthday gets officially released, she's on track to surpass Rihanna as the artist with most #1 Pop Songs in history and at the same time extend her reign as the artist with most cumulative weeks at #1 on the said chart. Her digital sales per single is also the most impressive among her contemporaries, including Rihanna. Well, Gaga's reign burnt up quickly I still think in the sense of how much the media runs stuff on Gaga, her talent, her eccentricity, her impact that Gaga is the Queen. From touring receipts, album sales, media recognition, philanthropic efforts, early digital sales records, social media milestones, critical acclaim at an age before 30 - she achieved a lot. No one can take those achievements away from her. And what I truly love the most about this argument about Gaga being the "Queen of Pop" is the fact that it wasn't her fanbase who named her (unlike the majority of fanbases). It was the media (the reputable ones) - from Billboard to RollingStone to Forbes to TIME, they've all, at one point in time, called her as the new Queen of Pop - something none of her contemporaries could even claim. What does Katy do on live performances? Stand and look pretty with backup dancers and her lip syncing. Gaga should be praised for her talent and what she has brought to pop music. No way she could've won that, it either had to do with ratings or money. They can't let Gaga win EVERYTHING like the 2010 VMAs. One category had to go to somebody else. It's not all about votes, remember the EMA 2012 Biggest Fanbase award? that was purely for ratings.. They can't let a fanbase that inr eality is smaller win. Like for the fact that a few people seem to be getting their (self)-confidence depending on how Gaga is performing chartwise? And god forbid it's not going to their wishes... don't act like it's your personal loss nor like is she failing you personally. What kind of stanning it is if you need her to do well so you (and your ego) can feel good? It's like them kid pageant moms that live through their child. Lip syncing is when she doesn't sing and mimes her lips according to the playback vocals. Gaga doesn't do that.
