I'm glad Applause was lead. I'm glad DWUW was second. VENUS IS AMAZING, but it would flop hard idk :(

Besides, did u check out the leaks? I know our opinions differ - you believe Gaga is responsible for the DWUW video being cancelled while I believe otherwise.

But from the leaks, I can just say I know why Gaga didn't release the MV. It looked cheap

After doing the video, she probably saw how distasteful it is and chose to scrap it. While being in the midst of the internal problems, she probably couldn't redo one like she did for TEOG. So, they cleaned HAUS and moved on.

I can't believe people want a video of Gaga possibly being fingered by an alleged rapist to be leaked. Also, maybe it was TOO personal for her and couldn't find it in her to release it for everyone to judge. Maybe you guys should just respect her decision.

I'm reading this book on the music industry business so this is where I'm getting my information from. As Gaga's manager, Troy gets around 10% of her earnings (so this would include streaming income from the video and purchases for the right to play the video I.e. Vevo, MTV, etc) even though he's no longer her manager, the music industry is really tricky and they will do anything to extract money from you. I'm assuming Gaga and Troy backed out of whatever contract they had, but in that situation, Troy is still entitled to his 10% for the next six months or whatever- which is probably why Gaga went on a blackout. She didn't want Troy to make anymore $ off her

I don't think it's about Troy or about controversy... Maybe she just felt pressed to make a certain kind of video that wasn't really part of her artistic vision, so she decided to cancel the project... Kind of like what happened with the The Edge Of Glory video directed by Joseph Kahn, with mermaids, etc...

Well, remember when she said Interscope was 100% behind ARTPOP? If they were the ones to finance the video and were the ones to get the money from it, it's clear now that Troy was not holding the reigns in this thing. Ugh, I wanna know what went on already

Perhaps, but I think the situation concerns Gaga's choices for ARTPOP vs. Interscope's wishes as far as single choice etc. Possibly Troy kept telling her NO, attempting to lead her in a different direction? Maybe he felt she wasn't going to be successful. Do you remember her comments about how they picked Applause?

Basically saying Applause is the best song. How did Gaga truly feel about this?

She could not have known the initial success of DWUW, adjusted her campaign only to find out the concept she had wasn't working. The video was stopped perhaps because of R. Kelly's history but perhaps more so because at the time it was to come out, the media was in full "bash gaga" mode. That's when she stepped away to create a new beginning.

That's why I said "possibly" and "alleged".

And I feel like she has explained it enough.

she shouldn't have to explain herself anyway. If she didn't want to release it, then she didn't want to. End of.

What do most artist do that grab attention? People hear songs on the radio and decide if they want to purchase them or not. Most people don't spend their time involved in diva slap fights at ATRL. The average radio listener simply could care less about all this ****. They have no idea that a video was never released for DWUW and they don't care!

 

She explained what happened with the video. The problem is the small number of fans that can't accept it or move on. It is a 4 minute video, that will be completely insignificant when looking back at a long term music career, decades from now.

There comes a point where fans should just MOVE THE **** ON!

Let's be real, the snippet we saw of DWUW didn't look nearly as polished and good in general as most other Gaga videos, and like she said, she had like a week to plan it and execute it. Knowing the perfectionist she is, I can understand why it wasn't released.
