Bye 3,947
I don't think Gypsy would do much for album sales at this point... if it went gold perhaps it would help the album sell 50-100k extra WW? That's basically nothing... the momentum has already died - ARTPOP is selling about 3k a week WW which is HORRIBLE. I think that that's what BTW was selling late 2012 I actually think ARTPOP is right now selling about as much as The Fame (Monster) Gypsy will at least help give momentum to the next record if it manages to become a hit or even better a smash. Yves 1,891
She should've release it like this: 1. DWUW (feat. Some rap artist that has a good reputation and voice) 2. Gypsy 3. MANiCURE (feat. Madonna) 4. Applause, maybe? Promo Singles should be: 1. Venus 2. ARTPOP 3. Dope

Ending the era like this will once again hurt the next era this time in even more epic failure proportions than what ending MTN on that note did to the ARTPOP era. Momentum isn't mandatory for a new album cycle... the lead single is there to build momentum for the album, and a lead single by a big artist automatically has lots of hype. Britney had LOTS of momentum for the lead single after Scream and Shout smashed, yet it didn't do much in its first week and anyways, I doubt the next single could pull more than 1M sales. It'd be another flop and actually do the opposite of what was supposed to happen (build momentum and airplay for the next single).
Luc 4,775
She should've release it like this: 1. DWUW (feat. Some rap artist that has a food reputation and voice) 2. Gypsy 3. MANiCURE (feat. Madonna) 4. Applause, maybe? Promo Singles should be: 1. Venus 2. ARTPOP 3. Dope I think that DWUW should've featured somebody like Beyoncé or Christina Aguilera right from the start, it fits HAC way better that way and is still a great track for Rhythmic radio... Honestly, there's two sure hits on this album and that's Applause and DWUW. Gypsy had the potential to become a big hit, too. Had. MANiCURE isn't single-worthy (eventhough it's extremely catchy, it'd become Birthday-sized tbh). Venus isn't a sure smash neither is it a sure flop. RiskGa likes to take commercial risks in a different way: losing momentum, random release dates, bad promo and lack of videos, rather than being risky as in releasing a song that's very fresh for radio. We don't aim for gold though obviously, if Gypsy is only gonna reach gold then there is no point to risk it. We want a single that will reach AT LEAST 1,3M+ in the US and 2,5M WW. We all wanted Gypsy ot become a single because it has potential. If it flops ala MTN or even worse ala GUY then there is no reason to release it. The point of the release was that Gypsy gives us signs that it can do very well. If we are moving to a failure with a big % then it's better to end it here and move directly to the Jazz album int he 4th quarter. I think that Gypsy can do well though. But that's so unlikely it'd need to be Top 20 on iTunes for radio to get it further than 30M AI and Gaga needs like 60M AI to go Top 20 on iTunes and World Championship isn't big in North America, so she can't really use that for promotion. Imagine if Gaga had done a Brazil-themed video for Gypsy without being the official World Cup song, she'd smash

Timberlake did it too thsi era. There are plenty other examples. It's very possible and they better make it possible. There no room for mistakes here. And next to that, he had a commercial and some promo lined up for his single. Rihanna has had 1 song smash after a flop from the same album. That was Rude Boy. We can't really compare Gypsy to Rude Boy, because Rude Boy is just that much better, more fun and catchier.

Your opinion or my opinion on the song has nothing to do with you well it will do obviously. If the public truly loves the song then they find it as catchy as Rude Boy or even more (RB is awful anyway imo.) Also we expect for Gaga to do some promo as well. This is not the point anyway. The point Is what I said before. If the public loves the song then it must be released, if not then there is no point to risk it. Its rise and performance shows they do though.
Mariano 958
Lol a mosters saying not releasing Gypsy would be biggest snub ever just because it is in top1500 on pop. I agree song has potential but being in top1500 on pop doesn't garantuee it will do any better than GUY (although it might) When will you accept it ...
