This thread is going to get so depressing.

But... I think if she goes away for a few years after the tour, rethinks exactly what she wants to do, re-evaluates the concept of ARTPOP, gets RedOne back, and spends some time out of the public eye to make the best music she can, she might just get another multi-platinum single.

but why does she have to go away. omg. She went on a blackout for almost two years. I remember being so sad when she didn't tweet or connect with fans. and when she came back at the Gay pride festival, it was like seeing Jesus rise again. I don't think another blackout will be good for her career imo. People forget easily and her old hits are starting to be , well old.

I think Gaga just needs to do what she does best and just to keep being herself. If the GP comes back then so be it but if they don't then at least she could say she never sold out and stuck true to her self and what she wanted to create.

Bottom line.

It's certainly possible with successful reinvention and a great catchy song.

Probably.

All artists have peaks and lows. It may seem like some artists like Katy and Rihanna are invincible and Gaga's career is in a vulnerable position, but that's not really true. Rihanna's had some huge flops, and Katy's had some songs that weren't big and will continue to have songs that don't click. In addition, they'll also have songs that smash. Same with Gaga.

Oh god...

I think we all like to think that the chart performance of pop stars is so formulaic, that it always follows a pattern, so we can predict future releases based on what has happened before. It's not like that.

All artists have ups and downs in their career. MJ had ups and downs, Madonna had ups and downs, I mean look at Rihanna's discography. Some of it is a total mess, there is no consistency at all but she still comes back with big hits when she has downwards slopes. Even Beyonce's last top ten before Drunk In Love was five years ago.

There is no reason this question should even exist tbh. Where did you find the statistics that indicate it's highly likely she will sell below 2m? Have you heard her next lead single? Do you know the promo strategy?

Exactly. If the material is strong enough, and even if it's the lead single from Gaga's 8th studio album, there's no hindering it from selling more than 2 million. And besides, 2x platinum isn't that as hard to achieve as a 5x platinum one, especially among lead singles where the support of the fanbase is at its strongest. And yeah, we cannot really fully base the fate of a future single with the chart performance/s of the previous one/s. For instance, it took Britney Spears almost a decade to score her 2nd HOT 100 #1 (and by far her biggest-selling single to date). And that came from her 6th studio album. If others can do it, why cannot an artist like Gaga?

I feel like whenever Gaga "underperforms" other artists start flopping hardcore. Happened after MTN and seems to be happening again after ARTPOP.

honestly everyone is starting to think that gaga is a fad.

So Act II better be amazing. Cuz multi platinum singles could happen if she toned it down and recorded good stuff like Applause and Poker Face.

The reason Applause was big was because it wasn't controversial and it was normal. Yet ORIGINAL at the same time. If only the album was like that...Act II has high hopes from me, for multiplatinums.

And honestly just saying, an April or may 2015 release would be amazing...just saying

:rip: mess at the fact that people actually think Gaga is only valuable with RedOne and commercial success.

Or that ARTPOP, one album, defines a career that will likely span 30 more years.

Or that Gaga "needs to spend time out of the public eye." Her career post-btw has been a succession of little blackouts and minor exposure :deadbanana:

Nope can't see it, ecven if she released something on the lines of Bad Romance it still won't be enough.

I have full faith that GaGa will finally see once again the commercial success that she deserves

We just have to remain faithful :)

Not that commercial success is all that matters, but I think we can all agree that ARTPOP deserves sooo much more praise than it gets. Even amongst the fan base

If she will continue with the philosophy which leads her artistry since the begining of BTW era then most likely she won't.

I mean let's be real guys her career within the GP listeners falls down more and more. I value that she cares about the fans, but in the long run it will not lead her to anywhere, it just will narrow her group of receivers drastically.

Pop music is about sharing the message with the masses. This is why charts more or less matter. The only artist who can say that don't care about charts is indie artist imho.
