Maybe we are a little upset because GUY, an amazing song with an incredible video, is struggling in the charts and being ignored by the radio for a bland song about birthdays. Essence 244 Posted April 21, 2014 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Exactly The longest run of "longevity" recently in the UK was 10 weeks by Rihanna with Umbrella (at #1), but overall the Top 10 positions shift practically every single week. Most of the longer singles were in the 50s and 90s probably, when music boomed. That is odd. In the US too, longevity nowadays is a bit harder to find, though not like in 2003-2005 where every 2-3 weeks the Top 10 and number one was changing. I know pressed fans want to blame something or someone for Gaga's lack of chart or radio impact. It has to be the fault of anyone but her, anything but the album itself, anything but the fact that ARTPOP simply isn't SLAYING! I feel bad for Gaga, cuz in fact her album is doing just fine. Fans keep comparing yesterday's peaks of success with today's hills and valleys and it's unfair. The album ISN'T outstanding, innovative or game changing. Nor is it bubblegum pop. Nor is it pure and sophisticated EDM. It is what it is, an average album with a few highlights of brilliance. You could describe Adele's 21 in exactly the same terms TBH. Where were these updates when GUY was in the top 200? My thoughts exactly. Birthday wasn't even officially added yet and has had nearing 2 million updates. The same could be said for G.U.Y. when it wasn't added just like Birthday when it was in the 200s and nearly reached the Top 100. Why wasn't G.U.Y. getting at least 1 million or nearly 2 million updates then. It wasn't added just like Birthday yet G.U.Y. didn't have that treatment. Can someone explain this? Please.
