You know that Lorde had commercial for GnG?

Yes! And the song of the year, which was a number one smash on multiple formats, plus another top 10 hit. Not to mention, multiple Grammy nominations and awards, including for her current album- the album that has stayed consistently in the top 10 and is still there, even though all the other pop girls have fallen out of the top 10.

Lorde is one of the most consistent artists of the last year and of this year thus far.

A single coming from an era like this is bound to get more attention than a single coming from the type of era ARTPOP has had.

the point is that the song wouldn't have gotten to top 300 without the video :rip:  Only with 5M AI it would've been as high as Birthday at best...

Mariano, I really like you, but you're just wrong :awkney:

Initially, yes, but the song already dropped off the MV exposure boost. The song would be exactly where it is or maybe just a bit lower were the video never released. The iTunes position does not reflect a sales boost from days ago. it's within a 24 hour time period.

Oh, no. Not again.

So, do you guys think the Roseland buzz + stream will have an effect on its position?

Of course. A commercial that's aired what... Three times in the us?

The song itself has barely any radio play or MV. I'm just beyond tired of these comparisons that are trying to make G.U.Y. look good. I could come up with a dozen more that make it look bad. If you guys want to tell people to not call G.U.Y. a flop, that's one thing. But to try and compare it to other songs to justify its iTunes performance is pointless.

How is my post ridiculous? So it's perfectly acceptable to compare Gaga to Katy in every other post but when I compare her to Lorde, it's ridiculous because she's "hot" right now? And Katy isn't?

I'm sure I've been watching the charts just as long if not longer and am well acquainted with how things work. G.U.Y. should be doing better than it is. Fancy had basically the same kind of release and never fell out of the top 250. I'm not saying G.U.Y. is a definite flop. But it has an incredibly slow start and comparing Gaga's success to Perry's right now is beyond ludicrous.

Not the Lorde comparisons, but your constant judge of my character in your reply. I'm totally fine with you disagreeing, but don't please make claims it's only to make "delusional Gaga fans" feel better. I get attacked in this thread for just being honest... I state what I see and everything I say here is with integrity.

I know its within 24 hours   The song was not even 1500 pop when the video was dropped and with only limited radio support and no TV exposure of the video etc.. It would've risen just to 800s on overall.. I understand that radio right now is keeping the song in the 300s but video is also a factor + it's the reason the song is as high as it is..   Let's just agree to disagree I guess '.'

I'm not all knowledgable about charts but I kinda get when a song is popular and when it isn't. I don't think any amount of promo, performances, or even regular radio play (for a week or so,say) is gonna make G.U.Y. real popular outside of us fans. And actually a lot of fans aren't exactly keen on it either, and weren't that keen on the video TBH.

I gotta Q for the chart freaks. If Gaga releases Volume 2 could that act like a delayed trigger for G.U.Y. and DWUW too, simply because of the huge curiosity value a sudden new release would have?

Like do you think she could use ARTPOP 2 as a kind of mothership and pull ARTPOP 1 into its landing bay?

(I'm asking cuz I think the media and the GP are nearly at the point of being bored by anti-Gaga sentiment)

Radio stations, including KIIS and Z100, picked up Fancy at a quicker speed than they have picked up G.U.Y. Fancy was getting airplay on major stations, at prime times of the day. Both KIIS and Z100 started spinning it within the first week it was released to radios. (not the add date- the week it was available for play!)

Plus, it flew up the Rhythmic chart. G.U.Y. doesn't have another format, where it is kicking ass.

Also, Fancy was the lead single and has no album to buy in its place or fans that have already bought the album. You can't compare a lead in single, without an album,(Fancy) to a third single, with an album that has been out for months! (G.U.Y.) :smh:

I wasn't referring just to you and I'm sorry if I offended but I would hardly say I constantly judged your character. I accused you of posting a comparison that serves no other purpose than to make Gaga fans feel better about G.U.Y.'s iTunes performance and I do stand by that. I really didn't mean to call you delusional so much as accuse you of perpetuating delusion.

No let's compare a single with no MV and no promo to G.U.Y. instead! It will make us look so much better!!

Seriously... You guys pick and choose your comparisons to suit whichever debate you're currently engaged in.

Omg thank you kayla for cleaning this mess! Now this thread is so great to read, again.

I think that the only thing we can do for now is request everyday and hoping for the peoplo to listen the song a lot of times so it will stuck in their heads and buy it.

G.U.Y. is a grower, I loved it but during these two weeks I've been listening to it non stop and I love it even more! It is amazing :flutter:

So, lets request, and then we can only wait...

Oh, no. Not again.

So, do you guys think the Roseland buzz + stream will have an effect on its position?

Nope :spin:

For a song like G.U.Y...very unlikely! A song like Gypsy would be more likely to be played by AC and HAC, possibly at a higher rate before Pop, if there was strong interest shown. Gaga really isn't an artist that appeals primarily to the AC format, in the first place. (like a Groban or Buble) Some of Gaga's songs eventually crossover to AC, but that isn't her home format.

Hm. It was more about building airplay on one format, I get that Mainstream/Top40 is her home format, but airplay on any format translates into sales which translates into a higher position on iTunes. Most Pop stations - especially the big ones - won't put the song on high rotation when it's not Top 40 on iTunes, and it's not going Top 40 without the support of those big stations so there must be some solution for other stations which care less about the actual popularity of songs (AC, Spanish, Latin Urban... HAC and Rhythmic/Top 40 to a lesser extent) to give the song spins first. Next to that, it'll contribute to a higher peak on the Billboard Hot 100 because it has big airplay everywhere at the same time.

We should at least try to get the New York AC station to add it to their playlists, it's one of the biggest stations in North America - making up for ~1/6 of the total Adult Contemporary Audience Impressions on Kworb (1/3 or 1/4 on Nielsen), about as big as KIIS and KAMP.

Apology accepted  I'm totally over it :)

I really do believe it's too early to call GUY a failed single. I originally stated to wait until 10-15M AI before making any assumptions and I still stand by that.

I can't think of any other songs to compare the song to, which is another reason why I picked Birthday. Something with similar airplay would be best.

Too late :derpga:

I agree, I have testweek atm so I won't be spending time requesting, but I'll definitly be requesting next week!
