Birthday Boy 3
This. If it had radio support it could have pulled a Birthday but nothing more imo. So much for little flopsters that said GUY is the best song on ARTPOP and better than Applause, Venus, Sexxx Dreams.. This. Bye 3,947
Let's not go too far here. Its floppage shouldn't be any indicator of its quality True. But then again it's also true that GUY isn't the best thing since sliced bread like many monsters say.
Gypsy Life 118,907
True. But then again it's also true that GUY isn't the best thing since sliced bread like many monsters say. Yeah it's not the best song on ARTPOP I agree but it's still good and among the best.
VforVendetta 2,024
Yeah it's not the best song on ARTPOP I agree but it's still good and among the best. IMO it's the most dated song on ARTPOP when it comes ot production, it's 2012. The lyrics aren't anything groundbreaking as the monsters make it seem as well and the chorus is extremely repetitive and uninteresting. It's a Monster #2 actually only that it's not that good. The song is still a good song and it deserved to become a top 10-20 on Hot 100 but for Gaga's standarts I think it's not that good. Also I was reading a Greek magazine that has said a lot of goo dthings for Gaga and ARTPOP and they said that they loved the video but the song is mediocore, especially for Lady Gaga. Mills 446
No amount of promo would've made G.U.Y a hit. The radio-itunes ratio and the terrible callout scores are more than enough that people don't like it. Yeah, G.U.Y. wasn't a surefire hit after what happened to DWUW. But heavy promotion could have pushed any struggling single into the top 30, at best. Beyonce's Run The World was neither a radio hit nor a decent seller. It hardly entered the top 50 on iTunes, but it still managed to get a peak within the top 30 of the HOT 100 solely due to promotion. Promotion may not ensure longevity in sales or guarantee massive success in the long run, but it will always improve awareness - which could have brought G.U.Y. a much respectable peak than of outside the top 70. VforVendetta 2,024
Guys, do you think ARTPOP's high price has anything to do with the foil cover? (and the whole booklet seems to be from very expensive paper) Maybe the production cost is higher and this is why they don't reduce the album price easily. Nope, it's just not selling enough to make extra profits with the discount. First, it's permanently discounted to $6,99 on Amazon since its release and it's still not even selling there. Last week it was discounted and it went from 2k to 4k with half the price which is basically the same profit. But at one point months ago, the discount was pushing it from 6k to 8k which is obviously a loss.
Jee Yew Whai 1
if the official radio release of g.u.y. was done the day the video was released or a day before... all would have been good

Heavy promotion in G.U.Y.'s case wasn't possible because she was busy w/ the tour. A top 30 peak would've been guaranteed if she performed twice or thrice in a week to push the single on iTunes, otherwise it'd have jumped from 400 to 200 w/ a performance then back to 400 again the next week bc the radio wasn't and was never going to support it. Also there's no point in going from The Voice to American Idol to the Billboard Awards to promote something w/ no potential. They did the right choice with not milking it anyway. Jee Yew Whai 1
i predict Gypsy to suffer the same fate as G.U.Y. Although Gypsy is indeed more radio friendly, Gypsy would probably get barely any promotion if any promotion considering gaga is on tour. two flops in a row... not good for her or interscope. It's the argument I've previously presented that waiting as late as March didn't do any good, hence making whatever strategy they had for the third single nowhere near the "right choice". They had the option to protect her top 30 streak, like KP did, and yet they opted not to by not promoting the single at its maximum. And again, the promotional thing doesn't guarantee strong sales, but they could at least give a much better peak for the sake of protecting her top 30 streak. Yes but unlike G.U.Y. which was not even in top 1500 POP, Gypsy has shown us many times that people react to it, when it has been exposed. With radio airplay and a music video it will do better than G.U.Y. - easily.
