And it IS NOT because of "bad feedback from listeners". That's bullsiit! :) Someone mentioned Kelly Clarkson in a thread last night, so I will use her as an example. On her last album, her first two singles did very well with the first one getting to a BB #11 and selling around 1.8 million, and the second one getting a BB #1 and selling OVER 5 MILLION! Her third single from that album, was slow going on radio, even after those two successful singles. The third single did not get added to "the big" radio stations immediately and they played it at nights a lot at first. Fans had to request it and work for spins during those nighttime games. It did end up selling around 700K and going top 20 on CHR and top 10 on HAC. Kelly ended up with a platinum album, two successful tours, several Grammy nominations and a Grammy win for Best Pop Album of the Year. The same thing happened with Catch My Breath, the first single off of her greatest hits album, released on the buzz of her Grammy wins! You would think radio stations would be all over it, right? Nope, it had to go through all the nighttime spins and a million of those call in contests. Kelly's fans aren't spoiled and entitled, though. They are massively organized and they have had to work for radio plays for years. They requested, requested, requested and played all those silly nighttime "make it or break it" games FOR WEEKS, the ones that monsters are whining about after two days! Catch My Breath moved slowly along. It took 4 months to reach its peak on BB and only made it to the BB #19, but ended up selling 1.4 million copies. Gaga fans are spoiled and they don't understand that this is how the majority of fanbases operate and this is how the majority of songs, ESPECIALLY THIRD SINGLES. start out. Their expectations and ideas of how things work are so skewed, they are never going to be happy. It's a shame, because they really are missing out on an amazing artist and some amazing music with their ridiculous expectations on charts, videos and tours- and it is doing nothing but making them continually unhappy and stressed. G.U.Y.'s bullet is at 507 and you all have the song on suicide watch. I've never seen anything like it! I'm just hoping that GGD is not an accurate reflection of Gaga's fanbase, as a whole. I have a feeling it's not. It's not. The best representation of this fanbase is LM.com. In reality the majority of this fanbase consists of Latin Americans and the female:male balance is about 50:50. There are way more older and younger Monsters and way more people from developing nations. EXTREMELY loyal ones! LOTS of gay fans, including lots of lesbian fans. Plus, she has crossed over into country successfully some. In a career spanning over a decade, Clarkson has accumulated ninety-one number ones on the Billboard charts and eleven international number one singles, and has sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Just shows you that some artists continually, and somewhat quietly, continue to rack up hit after hit and Grammy nominations and wins for a decade or more.Gaga can do the same!
