Only a tiny percentage of the pop listeners are involved in this Pop Girl War mess or even care. You are correct, there has been a major shift over the past couple of years to Indie and Alt. Rock sounding music and R&B is slowly taking back the space that the Rap collabs stole a few years back. That means we are experiencing a wave of male dominated music. Pop radios are trying to push the girls- just look at Demi's Neon Lights- but buyers and listeners are preferring the male solo artists and bands, in singles and albums. Males are selling singles, females are doing much better on streaming platforms. Rather Be is currently taking off in the US, it's already #33 on US Spotify.
