Although foolish people aren't even taking the time to read the full post, I want you to know you make perfect sense and are pretty much spot on about GaGa.

By the way people, he is not bashing Gaga. He is explaining why there are obvious similarities in both Gaga and Madonna's works. He is perfectly right and although Gaga might not admit it herself, I think this is somewhere in her logic of how she does things.

Can tell it's probably not very insightful, so I won't bother reading on something that's been said to death. Thanks for trying

This is not a lot of text. It will not kill you guys to read it all.

redstreak, I thoroughly believe most of the people here are high school students who have stopped reading. And they don't do much in the way of writing.

But really, even if it is smart and well thought out, it really isn't something anyone would read, because madonna has been accused as much copying as Gaga, and really, Madonna isn't really the only wild artist of her time.

And not to mention, technically, Gaga has been accused of stealing from a lot of people. Miss Mosh, underground burlesque artists, grace Jones, and just a lot of people, not just Madonna, so I believe any Madonna only logic really needs to be thrown to the side, like trash.

I thought that was David Bowie?

Well there was allot of BS in that essay but the general point is correct (i guess).

Gaga is/was very inspired by Madonna. All artists take inspiration from others and I think Gaga just got a bit too close during the BTW era but that is the past now and she hasn't really done it since.

Also the biggest problem I have with this "Gaga copies Madonna" thing is that Madonna did exactly the same thing and she did it more than Gaga does. Almost everything Madonna has ever done has been "inspired" by or "paying homage" to other artists. Even her music itself closely followed other people's styles. Madonna always had an eye for good idea's and when something new came along she was one of the first to try it out but she didn't invent all of these idea's herself.

Does this mean Madonna is not a brilliant artist? No of course not because she is but criticizing Gaga for doing the same thing as she does is completely ridiculous, her fans are hypocrites.

Also the "reductive" comment was just about the song "Born This Way" and not about Gaga herself. She could have said allot worse and she did have a point tbh.

Interesting perspective on what Gaga might have been inspired by. I actually appreciate you explaining yourself because it makes it easier to understand why you think that.

And as it says in Applause, some of us do like to read. :classy:

Do your own research.

I actually get, appreciate, respect and agree with this post. Look, Madonna did what ever pop girl, rocker, musician, etc wanted to do....she hit and hit big and STILL amazingly is able to be a household name and also sell out tours like nobody's business. She said early on "I wanna rule the world" and she did. Why? Because she's a shrewd business woman and she knows hooks, knows how to present herself, tries to be forward and it's worked. While her latest material can be argued, nobody with sense can argue that she can sell out tours (with mind blowing high ticket prices), she puts on flawless shows and she knows what she's doing. Ill always give props to Madonna. Gaga has borrowed or "winked" at Madonna in alot of ways, primarily during the Fame Monster/BTW era. The Alejandro video alone looks like a Madonna video compilation. I'm not shading. It just is what it is. That, along with the BTW/EY conterversy hurt Gaga more than anything but I don't blame her. If your a strong female, you don't need permission. Gaga knew who the source of female pop power was and she hooked up a virtual IV and drank from the cup of the queen. That's ok. Gaga is her own artist, very different than Madonna musically and Gaga will have a long lasting career. Times are different now....speed is faster, things come and go quicker. Madonna may not had lasted if she came to the scene in 2009. Madge is a mastermind at pop but Gaga has something Ms Ciccone never really had......a powerful singing voice. Add that with the theatrics, the art and pop and you have a legendary career on your hands. I love both Madonna and Gaga and as a pop culture junkie, I'm honored to see both in my lifetime. Madonna is the queen. Gaga is the voice....and full package. Give it time. The crown will be passed. And Madonna knows who it goes to. ARTPOP.

In response to the OP's last paragraph - the reductive comment never bothered me. The stuff Madge said on Graham Norton never bothered me either.

It was the MDNA tour stuff - singing BTW then She's Not Me, you can't pretend that was secretly nice, it clearly was capitalizing on the fact the media was pitting them against each other so Madge could rile up the crowd, and so she could gain some headlines about the songs being similar. Same thing with her saying "I have the best fans in the world, take that Lady Gaga" and "I love her, I do love her. Imitation is the highest form of flattery." Listen to her stadium roar after she says those things. I never thought Madonna was petty until I heard those clips.

I totally agree with you!  :golfclap: I was drinking coffee with a Madonna stan today and discussed some of this things.

I'm sure that in some years we'll have a song by GaGa ft. Madonna  :music: And that all this PR shït is just the warming up before it happens. It'll be the climax and everyone is gonna be shocked, an iconic Nr.1 hit.

And what is the point on commenting "sorry, it's too long to read" what is the point on showing off how lazy one can be... oh well
