tokyodisko 0
I don't care really. It's a totally different meaning here in the USA. Like fag between here and parts of Europe. But I recently came across someone posting a pissed off status about how she thinks people shouldn't use it and ought to know better. She's one of those tumblr activist white girls who will follow any fad injustice or create one so that she can argue it. (Also loves to say that I am a white guy so I am not allowed an opinion ) Her friend who was from Romania was talking about how it is an offensive term. I looked it up and it seems like some others don't think it's bad, but some find it offensive. I want to clarify that I am not an ignorant bastard, but I think this trend of "activism" is stupid. Being an activist is great, but not if you're doing it solely to feel better about yourself. ANYWAYYYY, Do you think it would hurt the impact if Gaga were ever going to release Gypsy as a single? Ps. this isn't intended to be a thread debating grammar and composition. This is meant to see if it could hurt Gaga in some parts of the world where the term is used as a slur and not to describe a nomadic person.
RAMROD 107,464
No. She did it before with Chola. People just being too sensitive, and need to learn the context the words were used in.

tokyodisko 0
sooo many songs named gypsy.. by fleetwood mac, cher, shakira for example I agree, but two of those are much older and people were not as involved in "activism". ?????? ???? ?? ???????? ?? ?? ??? How is gypsy even racist? It's a metaphor. It's not a metaphor. The name is from a group of thieves basically, from Romania or somewhere iirc. Like the word 'gypped'. ThreadKiller 0
She'd totally get ****, just because she could. I mean, Katy didn't with her horribly racist video and performance... but its Katy. I honestly wouldn't care. It'd blow over.

Like the word gypped. hmm, seems too isolated tbh, like the chola situation and there are a lot of gypsy titled songs, so i dont think we should worry
