Molly Aphrodite 241
Being A Little Monster Being a "little monster" means more than logging on to LM.com, checking every update on Gaga and being fascinated in her every move. Being a little monster is about choosing to embrace yourself for both the darkness and the technicolor lights. It's a mentality that comes after you learn to no longer fear what monsters you have under the bed or in the closet, but to let them out and cover them in sequins and make them dance before you. Gaga came up with the "little monster" nickname for us, along with the paws up symbol, when she heard a car passing her playing her music, and when her and that fan both stuck out their (at that time, unknowingly impactful) claws into the air. This was a symbol of unity, and of love and friendship through music. I think that we have lost the very special meaning of this very special relationship. It is not about opinion, nor evaluation. It is not about status or recognition. "When you're lonely, I'll be lonely too. And this is the fame." This has always been my favorite Gaga quote because of how raw and human it is, as well as distant and enigmatic. Lady Gaga was a girl broken and ridiculed throughout her life. She's been told how not good enough she is for something, she's been lied to and manipulated, she's been completely alone. Yet she never gave up. As much as an artist can say that they do everything they do solely for their art/career, that is untrue. There has to be a reward, incentive, to keep someone going. And Gaga's is making at least one human being out there feel good about themselves. Inspiring at least one act of bravery or boldness in someone's actions. And that's what she has (HAD a lot stronger, but still has) in us. She doesn't do what she does and work as hard as she does for herself. Nor the money. Nor a significant other/all powerful figure. She does it solely for her fans. Yet we abuse, neglect, criticize and harass her for what? For giving us music, giving us videos to watch? Working her ass off touring the world to see us? Performing or doing special events in hopes to give someone something to remember? Gaga isn't like other artists or singers, because she is one with her fans. She used to be the girl in the crowd lost in the music, wanting to sing and dance her happiness out. That's what she sees in us when she looks into the crowds. We mean something to her so much greater than we could imagine. I mean, for god's sakes, this woman wrote Applause. LOOK AT THIS SONG PAST THE SURFACE. While some of you were busy calling it basic or too desperate for attention, we had a true artist's undying memoir in our hands. "If only fame had an IV, baby could I bear being away from you. I found the vein, put it in here." Read that f***ing lyric. Take it in. "Give me the thing that I love".. "I live for the way that you cheer and scream for me".. These are lyrics so powerful and directed so bluntly towards us its amazing how unappreciated it turned out to be. Lady Gaga has given us her everything. And we gave her our everything in return. It was a mutual exchange of love and creativity and passion. What happened to that? What happened to the paws flying high out of the convertible, playing Gaga's CD instead of hands too ashamed to be raised in the air because Katy is on the radio instead? We need to show Gaga love and optimism and support these days. She is acting so depressed and broken now not because of the media but because of her fans. When Gaga says things like "some of you will betray me" it breaks my heart. She should not ever want to say things like that. She shouldn't feel like that. We haven't been very good friends to her at all. Gaga seems so distant to us lately maybe because we seem so distant to her too. We need to remember what it used to be like and that's where we need to meet her in the middle there. I don't know about you all, but Gaga has impacted my life to the point where I honestly feel like I have a friend in her. And I'm not going to treat her, her career, or any other fans in a negative way ever again (unless drastically needed like pulling a Lilo but we'll talk then ). We are the kings. We are the queens. And let's make Gaga feel like something a little more special to us than a devoted jester. Let's start being little monsters again. Guys, if you're willing to promote kindness, love, creativity and passion inside/out of both yourself and Lady Gaga, please reply saying "Being a Little Monster Is..." and finish the sentence to your own liking. I hope we can become a fanbase that wouldn't need to end this thread with saying something like "Please take this seriously/no mean comments". DIVA 666
Thank you. I'm glad someone has said this here. I think this kind of sentiment has been missing for a while now. It seems like little monsters were so much more united in the past, and I really hope that kind of energy can be revived. Being a little monster is being connected. We're all Stronger Together! GagaDragon 10
Wow great post OP! i think people take her for granted at times, the incessant whining by some people is puke worthy and they may think it's right because it's showing they care about her but they don't realise she's only human like the rest of us.
