1. The fued with Madonna which has made turned many older people off from Gaga, and many in the gay community who feel a loyalty to Madonna as well.

Madonna is a very, very powerful woman in the record industry with deep financial ties to many of the other very powerful people in the record and touring industry. I don't think people realize how much of a nasty, competitive person Madonna truly is. Madonna has stepped on and squashed people her entire career to get what she wants, and she doesn't give a damn what she has to do to stay on top. I would NOT be surprised if many people in Gaga's corner cut ties with her due to the Madonna issue, or threat of being blacklisted if they continue to work with Gaga. Think about it.... what other artist comes out and says "I know Madonna doesn't like me and I dont give a ****". Well Gaga says it and her career just so happens to be going from the stratosphere back down to earth Gaga even said herself during the Howard Stern interview that many of her current problems are rooted in Madonna.

2. The Born this way Era was not what it should have been artistically. Everyone and their mother was excited for a new album from Gaga and to see just what she was going to release next. I knew a lot of coworkers from all demographics who couldn't wait for her new music. When the Born This Way single was released, it was a big hit on radio simply because of the anticipation and build up to it, but not many people in the GP enjoyed the song, it was a disappointed to the GP and to fans. Being a fan and enjoying almost everything Gaga puts out, I felt Born This Way was not a very good single at all, the verses were not catchy enough, and the song was trying too hard to pander to the gay community. I am gay myself, I have gay friends who love Gaga, we were all put off by the preachiness and overt pandering of Born This Way. The song has a beautiful message, but the song itself could have used some work to bring it to perfection.

3. The album cover for Born This Way is absolutely hideous and borderline offensive due to how ugly it is. I am not speaking of Gaga's face of course, which looks fabulous. I am speaking of the way Gagas face is superimposed onto that motorcycle. I love horror movies, I love weird stuff, I DO NOT like that picture. There is just something incredibly disturbing about that image, and not a single person I know of actually likes it. After you get over how ugly the Born This Way album cover is, it just starts to look incredibly stupid and tacky. I am not sure if Gaga insisted on that image, but someone should have guided her a different direction, and she should have listen to them. Again, this was a crucial moment for Gaga due to the timing and anticipation up to this album, and this image was so so wrong for her.

4. A lack of smart, catchy, to the point singles has been a big problem with getting her career reignited and sent into the stratosphere of pop once again. Applause was a great song, and it did well on radio, however there was no follow up single to build upon that momentum and really get it going.

Do What You Want is a great song but the fact that it features R KELLY of all people was a huge mistake. The GP still does not approve of R KELLY, at least not most of Gagas target audience, and his appearance on the single did nothing to enhance her image or the appeal of the song. The SNL performance with him grinding all over her was actually disgusting considering his perverted past, and seemed to go against the powerful image that Gaga is known for having. It felt a bit violating actually to watch that performance, like watching your sister get molested. I believe the single would have done better if it had featured perhaps Justin Timberlake (even tho he worked with Madonna), or even Christina Aguilera. The performance with Christina was a great one and helped the song a little bit.

5. She needs to stop making herself look bad, grossing people out for the sake of trying to shock people.

TF and TFM eras were so successful visually because they were very interesting but also very refined and still classy. The outfits expressed higher fashion and avante garde thinking in a way that her fans and the GP could still digest but that always made very loud statements and screamed GAGA. Now she wears big Gold Teeth grills that stretch her mouth out like a monster, the weird black and white bubble suit that looks like a bunch of floaties, gets puked on, wears implant horns on her skin during BTW, the green wigs, the nose ring that looks like a bull nose..... her style has turned from very refined to offensively grotesque. When she hasn't making poor fashion choices, she has simply been in a stripped down bikini which is like making no statement at all. Their has also been a lack of cohesion among the images and fashion she has been presenting due to the unrefinement.

6. Her team is falling apart and abandoning her, and I know she has to feeling an amazing amount of pressure. Gaga is not a conformist, she didn't want to be the good little Katy Perry bland vanilla pop star who keeps turning out the same song over and over. Her team wasn't happy with millions, they wanted billions and she said. Gaga's art is too important to her and she has refused to become something that she doesn't want to be. Gaga these days is more akin to the Marilyn Manson of pop. She wants to be a rock star with a pop stars level of fame. The problem is that she needs to refine her work and allow it to be edited into something more digestable so that she can reach that huge audience that she desires. Gagas vision is so strong that I believe she could use some editing, let people give her advice and take it. Her record company and manager said that there were no strong singles on ARTPOP and they were right, after Applause was released there was nothing else of that caliber.

Gaga began her career by releasing a smash album that produced hit after hit after hit. Then followed it up with another that produced hit after hit after hit. She can't afford to tarnish that perfect music making record (tho she already has). The reason that Rihanna and Katy Perry are successful in todays pop market is that even though their albums as a whole are mediocre, they always produce hit singles. Without singles, an album is not going to go anywhere or perform well, especially for a pop artist.

I know Gaga wants to do whatever she wants at this point, but I feel that she should have restricted herself just a little bit to cater to the GP and become the undisputable superstar she deserves to be. An album or two more like TF and TFM, with tight undeniably catchy singles that must be played on radio, and dazzling performances to go along with them, would cement her into the echelon of people like Madonna and Michael. She needed and still needs another hit album, with HIT SINGLES. After this level of success is achieved, it would then be safer to explore her darker side and turn out a few albums like BTW or ARTPOP.

She needs to learn to strike a balance between doing what she wants and satisfying the public, because simply making art for yourself is not the way to appeal to the masses.

I don't understand all this 'flop' drama going on.

GP still love her, it's just that her current music is not being as sucessfull as the previous, and people may have got a bit tired of her. But this will be just for a while, as it happened with EVERY FEMALE POP ARTIST before. I think expectations for Gaga were extremely high. She can't be number 1 all the time. Talking about 'a sabotage' is...stupid :awkney: it seems as if everyone hated her now, and it's not like that

Agreed. The media frenzy went a long way in convincing the audience, her own audience, that the material wasn't good. I know some people have their own issues with ARTPOP, and that's whatever. But for a rock-solid album to receive such intense backlash and criticism piled onto it, continuously since being released, it's simply not right.

I see no lies in that article and agree from start to finish :legend:

And I agree mostly with how fans jumped of the wagon when she hit a block. I resent such things. Loyalty is success is not loyalty

only America???  :awkney:

So is Tumblr considered a reputable source now?

Anyhow, the reason for Gaga's decline is very simple: the quality of her work has gotten significantly worse.

Not worse, but not much better either for all the bragging about art she pulled up. She used to make good quality music without having to show it off. GP hate braggers, that's one of the main reasons of her decline. She better just opens her mouth to sing and not talk much for the next era!!! :manicure:
