Retro 0
Honestly, it's almost entirely commercial rather than experimental. That's not a bad thing at all, but it didn't really explore any new territory or anything.
Truth 90
both I guess but she personally didn't mean for it to be commercial I believe... Come on, at the beginning of the "era" she said that every song on ARTPOP is radio friendly So I guess, she wanted it to be commercial
YuvalMonster 0
Come on, at the beginning of the "era" she said that every song on ARTPOP is radio friendly So I guess, she wanted it to be commercial I think that she just wanted to have some fun, not necessarily means it's commercial... I think every song has a meaning but comapring to BTW, for example, of course it's different.
Battle 4 Ur Life 6,698
is totally experimental...Prism is a commercial album...MDNA is a commercial album...ARTPOP is not commercial at all...Venus is commercial? she's practically saying penis and playing spanish guitar on a promo single. MJH? I don't see radios playing "piss" anytime soon. she said like a million times it would be risky and that you never know if radio is ready...she got it right...Applause, DWUW and Gypsy (maybe G.U.Y) are the only "mainstream" tracks of the record and they don't sound like nowadays radio hits @ all. besides it's a Parental Advised Explicit record... “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”

Do you hear experimental songs on the radio? I don't tbh

WorkBeep 0
It's both tbh. Almost every song on the album sounds like a mixture of both.
craig 680
More experimental. Too many people think "experimental" means trying to please critics and hipsters and being indie and not fun. ARTPOP just does it's thing and is too weird and loud for radio at many points.

tristessa 0
I think it's kinda half and half. It's more experimental in tracks like Aura, MJH, Swine, Venus and perhaps ARTPOP, but songs like Donatella, Fashion!, DWUW, Applause, Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy, MANiCURE, etc. are much more commercial (that's not a bad thing at all!). It may not fit a lot radio trends at the moment, but a song like G.U.Y. still sounds like it could be a potential hit.. or at least, like 2 years ago it probably would've been very on trend. Little7Monster 0
ARTPOP is very commercial. After Born This Way, I think people expected it to be more experimental, but were greeted with a very "tame" album.
