Glamourpuss 29,062
Look at how everyone is freaking out right now. Gaga has you right where she wants you. She is rehearsed and the b---h knows what she is doing. And those who say having the artist puking on her was not performance art. Well dig a little deeper. Who are you to say that what she is doing is not art. Bull****. She created this moment and it's getting a reaction. This was a premeditated performance. Hence a form of art. Its got you in an uproar. What I got from the performance was her saying that she is not commercial, and she is free to do what she wants. This goes back to her lighting hairspray on fire back in the day. You wanted to see the girl behind the aura. The messed up coked up girl who doesn't give a ****. This was brilliant. This was Stefani back in the day. Ive been a fan since Just Dance but this basically sealed the deal. I'm getting a tattoo. Excellent post. :) But think about the tattoo a bit more. U-GO-BOY 1,608
I honestly didn't enjoy the show, but it wasn't that bad. It was average to me. The thing is, Gaga used to be a well-rounded entertainer, with perfect timing on stage for everything. It was always smart, entertaining with just enough shock value to keep you hooked. The thought process for her performances is very different from what it was during the Fame/Fame Monster days. The moment of "OH COOL!!!" lasts 2-3 minutes instead of the 15 seconds that it SHOULD last to keep you interested. When Aura started, I loved the whole roasting bit. By the time the chorus hit, I was bored. You know what I mean? With TFM Gaga, there was always a happy medium between artistic, creative, shocking & being polished to still appeal to the masses. Whatever number of fans she is gaining with her recent performances is significantly less than what it once was, or could be. I do get that she wants to be herself, or free herself from restraints that are put on her in the industry, but why can't she do that looking great, with flawless make up and fabulous costumes? When she performed at the VMAs, it was a glimmer of hope that the real big production Gaga is back, but then it all went downhill. Also, I am SICK of the black bra/undies combo. Come on... there are OTHER colors in the world. It's frustrating as a fan to watch something like this, because if it was put in better context, it would be GREAT. Previously, with a performance from Gaga, I'd go around spreading it around like a disease and having my head high that my favorite artist has just KICKED ASS on stage. These days, all I do is watch people post links instead and poking fun at her, and I have to defend her vision, even if I am not 100% convinced. I guess at the end of the day, it is what it is. If I don't like it, it's my problem, not hers. However, for someone who preaches about her love for her fans, she should probably take a wider look on our perspective on things to try and make us happy. We are the ones buying her albums, singles, videos and merchandise and continue to support her. Also, regarding the Applause comment, I think she meant because her time was up and she had to wrap things up. If it is what most are thinking, then she should realize that even with the stress of it all, Applause has been the highlight of ARTPOP so far (and will probably remain the highlight in the long run). But she KICKED ASS on that stage. just because you didn't like it doesn't mean that her performance was horrible and you want Gaga to change for her fans? sorry but I think you should have to leave. She is not your mannequin or your typical pop star. She was always crazy and didn't always appeal to the masses but that's what made me fall in love with her. craig 680
I have to say, I've been watching reviews and I thinks fans are the only ones who hate it LOL. All the reviews I've seen (even on sites when they ussually bash her) are good. :toofunnu: Her gay fans want her to be the best of all the gay icons - Madonna, Kylie, Beyonce - but she has other influences from rock they often don't get or appreciate. If you've followed Gaga closely since 09, this side of Gaga shouldn't shock you. You've seen her get all messy many times, seen her crowd surf at festivals, seen her do raw vocals, know she loves metal, etc. She's always about "trying hard" to take it to the extreme. Lucifer 1,987
That performance of Gypsy really changed my opinion on the song. It's so much better now.

ModernEcstasy 8,854
Ok. After watching the performances for the 3rd time, I have come to the conclusion that the performances (swine aside) were quite good. Just so unhappy with what has happened with applause. One of her greatest songs turned into her own enemy. Still worried for the future of ARTPOP though. Fingers crossed that the blackout is now over. mmmonster 0
After seeing all the performances I can understand some of the comments. But you know what? I feel like Lady gaga shouldn't slowly become a "polished" popstar, aka Rihanna, Katy Perry, Britney, Beyonce. I feel this is gaga at her most purest and it reminded me a bit of her V-Festival/Glastonbury performances, although I liked that more then this. What I think is, that gaga wanted to say with her SXSW performances, is that she can't be your pretty popstar, like the before mentioned, she is Gaga, a genre on its own. She uses pop culture to get her stuff out, and I think lately she was sucked in commercial pop to much, now she steps out of it. I think great things can happen from now on, no more polished performances like on the today show, Jimmy Fallon, VMA, but more rawness. Which stands her apart again. And for people that think that this will make her even less popular for the general public, I think you're wrong. GP is big, and only a small percentage of people like the regular popstars. Gaga can turn the radio around, again! just like in 2008/2009 when dance music wan't played on mainstream radio. ARTPOP is just a weird product of gaga struggling with "the need/demand" to become a "pretty little blond pop star" doesn't mean ARTPOP is bad, but I feel like SXSW can be a U-turn in her career. The Fame is coming, yet again!

scrappy 302
To be honest I prefer the dirty (even imperfect) performances full of expression than just standing on stage wearing a pretty dress and smiling. (no shade intended)
Michelle 2,056
It is my favorite Gaga show ever. I had a feeling we would see that girl work with gaga again. I just really loved it.
Juanjo 2,040
Haven't seen all of the performances, but I did make sure to watch Swine, and, wow, that crazyyyyyy! Performance art at its best! I am so freakin' proud of being her fan. I love how she literally honored her creative vomit, and sent a big f*ck you to generic pop crap, and the industry behind it. ...So proud of you, Gaga!
