gagaconvert 68
I for sure think she was drunk, I don't think it was really an issue though in terms of her health. I think she was just having a good time with friends she probably hasn't seen in forever, she deserves a mini-cation especially when she has such a love for festivals. I'm all for her taking time off form work and whatnot, but getting dunk (and possibly high) is NOT good. We all know how bad her struggles with addiction have been, and that she has only very recently seemed to have overcome them...so binging on that stuff for a few days is just not a good idea. Just think of it this way: do you let recovering alcoholics have booze like a few months after they've given it up? No, because they can slip back into their bad habits so easily. That's why I was upset to see Gaga in the state that she was tonight; she could so easily fall back into that bad place and I'm afraid she might. I hope not. Judas Oyster 1,895
If we're going to attack other people for "not getting her art" then we need to establish what her art IS. Â One minute she's setting up social media sites for her fans, hashtagging her album to hell, doing online promotions and contests, making videos on youtube, creating an app for her album, posing for Versace ad campaigns and shooting a glamorous video at Hearst Castle. Â Next she's on stage, dirty with dreadlocks and barefoot screaming **** YOU to the crowd, berating people for using their cellphones while having a girl vomit all over her. Â WHAT IS HER MESSAGE?! Â What you saw tonight on stage was NOT a shift in creativity. We've seen this before during the Born This Way Ball. Back then it was readily apparent that she cracked, she started using a ton of d--gs and imploded on stage throughout that tour before she hurt herself and had to cancel the rest of the production. She went into hiding, built herself back up again and came out happy and proud. Â But as the ARTPOP album began to fade and things didn't go as planned... she has found herself back at this point again. Â EVERY TIME SHE FAILS, OR FEELS SHE HAS FAILED, SHE GOES BACK TO THIS ACT BECAUSE THIS IS HER STRUGGLING WITH HER ADDICTIONS AND MENTAL ILLNESS, NOT BECAUSE SHE IS BEING A "BAD ASS ARTIST". Â FURTHERMORE, speaking from the position as an artist who holds a BFA and has plenty experience in the field of art critique, I must say that it was pretty disappointing to see her reuse imagery for simple shock value. I can just imagine her going through her catalogue, watching that video and calling this Millie girl up (I can just hear her, "THIS WILL SHOCK THE **** OUT OF EVERYONE"). It was boring, predictable, and sad. I was not shocked to see someone vomit, I was shocked to see her stoop so low for headlines and attention. There was no context to the act itself, it was just desperate and embarrassing. She is crying out for help. I agree on mostly everything. But not on the part that is is doing it for pure attention (or maybe, if u mean health attention). It was for her self. To prove her self, and everybody else that she can do what the **** she wants... But... Why prove something, something that isn't there? I felt it was pointless and therefor embarrassing to watch. She is being a rebel, but rebel for what? Im sure she is having mental illness issues... Can't someone help here? I think she has fired people who saw things from a meta-perspective. People who cared about her health, who tried to balance her problems with her job. Because making music is her job, even tho' she sees it as her passion. It is her passion too u know, but I think her friends (Lady Starlight specifically) should wake up a little.

hausoffame 388
Sorry,i don't get the whole anti-pop thing, she IS a pop star. Just trying to be punk isn't punk at all. Didn't really think the puking was that shocking. I usually like her performances, but this didn't do it for me. Probably would've been cool to be there and experience it, not really that visual to watch at home.

Jase 13,083
She mentioned rape  Being puked on = literal representation of how dirty she must have felt while it happened
Stefani328 321
I thought for the place she was in...a festival this performance was great, raw and raunchy as they should be.  I just have a problem with puking as in a phobia so I can't see it, that does not automatically make it a bad performance it's just one of my personal flaws that even Lady Gaga cannot help. You too. I can't listen to Donatella.

That's why I was upset to see Gaga in the state that she was tonight; she could so easily fall back into that bad place and I'm afraid she might. I hope not.  I understand completely, from what I understand her main issues were with hard d--gs apart from alcohol. Last she commented on it publicly I was under the impression it was mainly marijuana that was the issue for her in addition to an occasional harder d--g that was harming her and her friends and family. I don't think she has a history of alcoholism to the point of dependency, she may however I'm not of the belief that we have any concrete evidence so we can't properly speculate in that area whatsoever. For all we know she could have been feeling as she was due to a combination of drinking a little and being re-united with her friends for the weekend. I don't personally think her performance showed any point that was of critical concern, at least for me. I won't go too far into it but I've been around friends who were alcoholics and managed to mask it very well to the point of being able to get along fairly well in everyday life. That being said they also exhibited identifiable cues that they were under the influence to the point of being unstable, from what I saw Gaga was able to perform and move freely without having any tell tale signs of being overly-intoxicated. I personally didn't notice any slurring either which is increasingly hard to mask, especially as a singer. That's just my take though, take it for what you will. I don't think her friends would allow her to get into a slump when I'm sure they have much more knowledge on her history with various d--gs.
ChvVolk 2,003
She doesn't drive. That was my point They said monsters were crazier then Justin's fans for standing up for her The difference is, this is just a performance It's not that serious compared to how his fans supported him for his DUI
Nemo 4,221
She was drunk/high out of her mind. She seriously seemed like she's not doing very well... She was fine.

I don't know if it was meant to be 'punk' though, I think she may be trying to open peoples minds as to what pop can be rather than exploring and placing herself in another genre. I think she still loves pop but not the barriers that are in place for the modern pop-star in all aspects.
