Television was absolutely saturated with commercials for Kingdom Hearts. I wasn't interested in the game but the theme song completely amazed me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNvTWohCFjI I looked up the song, and it was by this singer named Utada. She had just come out with an English album, but had a long discography of Japanese music. For a few years, she was the only Japanese artist I listened to. But in 2010 she announced a hiatus, so I started looking for other artists like her. Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, Miwa... Still only JPop though. The chorus is pretty catchy - not the catchiest we've gotten so far this year, but it's still infectious - and the breakdown towards the end of the song and ensuing buildup into the final chorus is pop perfection. That said, I'm not a fan of the deep-voiced rap section that kicks off the second half of the song, and the instrumental (which is definitely well-produced) overwhelms the vocals a bit. Every time they feature a new act, I become less confident in them I think they're really just trying to give new exposure to lesser-known acts, not pick the TOP KPop acts like they say they do. I mean, I love TINT and NC.A but... top acts? Not yet. I remember reading about "I Hate Seoul" (this group's single). I don't really like their music though.
