It's a top choice from that album because the hardcore fans loved it, and found a lot of meaning in it, but I don't think it would do well as a single. Singles are a political choice, it's not necessarily the "best" song. They choose what will sell best, and promote the album's direction. Alejandro was a great single choice at the time, too, because it had a summer feel to it, and was different, yet mainstream. Dance in the Dark may have performed well too, we will never know, but I think at the time, Alejandro was the best choice for the album. It is catchy, and very radio friendly. Plus, by not using Dance in the Dark, radio couldn't over play it to the point of growing tired of it! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
