Damn.

Every 20 years we get a huge one.

I barely survived the 1994 Northridge 6.8 quake.

But don't we get them all the time?

Either way, I hope everybody's alright.

Yikes, I wasn't even alive for that, but I always hear so much about it.

I was 8 years old. it was the most terrifying thing ever for an 8 year old. Total darkness (4:30am) and insane noises and shaking and not knowing if the roof would fall in on me. eeeeek lol.

One month ago today, marked 20 years since that damnable quake.

Southern California = faultlines galore.

Wow... :ohno:

And the next one is "due" for North Bay area (the fault near Oakland) from some sources

And I plan to move to San Francisco in 2 years after college

That's scary..

I also found this: "For instance, the last large event along the San Andreas fault in Southern California was in 1847. And research indicates that fault slips every 160 years."

:eww:

This sounds terrifying.  :ohno:

For someone like me who has never felt an earthquake even a 3.3 quake would probably be more than enough. But I don't really know how much there is to feel when it's that minor.  :laughga:

Earthquakes happen in California thanks to your friendly fault lines.
