Bobby Campbell, who used to work for Gaga’s original manager, Troy Carter, is now in charge. I met Campbell, who left Carter on the same day as Gaga, last night at MusiCares before Gaga’s magnificent performance of “You’ve Got a Friend.†He’s relaxed, friendly, and young. The Mother Monster starts a big tour soon. In the fall, Sony will release Tony Bennett’s jazz duets album with Gaga as his partner. There is a lot to come in 2014. Meanwhile, Troy Carter hasn’t missed a beat since splitting with Gaga. He’s managing both John Mayer and Miguel. The latter also wowed the crowd last night at MusiCares. Miguel may have will.i.iam do something on a new album he’s recording now for release this summer. Carter has big plans for Miguel, who’s already a big deal from his “Adorn†album and single. RichAssPiss 4,769 Posted January 25, 2014 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Is anyone sort of nervous about how Gaga just seems to ultimately end up hiring the "assistants" of the big names she used to work with. Brandon was Nicola's assistant and when Nicola left he stepped in full-time. (I know Gaga says Nicola left earlier than he claims, but regardless of the timetable at some point this switch happened.) Now she hires Bobby, who used to work for Troy, after Troy's exit. It's sort of like she just keeps the ship running with whatever crew is left in the cabin instead of going out and finding the best person, possibly with a new or different creative vision. I know a lot of people are gonna be up in arms about this saying she's only surrounding herself with yes-men, but the thing about processes like Gaga's career is that if you want things to go smoothly, you can't have someone who is so fundamentally different to you as Troy was to Gaga. There must be a balance. And considering that none of know know the dynamics of Gaga's and Bobby's professional relationship, I am willing to trust that he's Prudent enough to say yes AND NO.
