Introvert 0 Posted May 14, 2013 Share Posted May 14, 2013 i dont think it alienated her older fans, i just think her older fans didnt wanna deal with issues that, in the big picture, affect their rights and self confidence as well. it was represented in a joyous, youthful way, BUT the same base issue affects older fans as well, just in a slightly different way. having such a liberated and joyous album was seen as pandering to a group of older fans/lgbt members who feel they need to be serious and turmoiled in their fight for equality, BUT WAIT people complain that born this way was too serious. so all in all, people's criticisms for btw are quite scattered and contradictory.... you're such a born this way stan lol like you defend it so hard i dont think my criticisms of born this way are scattered or contradictory. Sorry just had to make that joke. I love Born This Way. I just notice a lot of people read different views then collect them under "this fanbase" or some other group like they have to be cohesive when they don't. Each person can have a different view! It polarized so many people. There are tracks I prefer (Born This Way, Heavy Metal Lover, Scheiße, You and I) to others (The Queen, Fashion of His Love, Marry the Night, Bad Kids), but overall it is a great album. HOWEVER... This is about ARTPOP. Born This Way has come & gone; we are in the spring of ARTPOP, it is coming soon. Everyday we are closer. Y'all need to realize that things have changed because of the injury whether you like it or not. Everything happens for a reason and for all we know, the delay in the project could make it even better. So if she misses out on this year's VMA deadline or Grammy deadline, it's not like ARTPOP won't qualify for the next one.
