They won't sell as much as If they are pre album but look at Judas ... and look at  JGMAR right now smashing and the album is out since September ...  The lead single should be smash and this mean top 5 atleast for 3 months... then she can release second single pre album or the album + the second single meanwhile she can perform some midtempo song on some shows just for Album promo like You and I was performed ...

Judas is a complete anomaly because of the controversy that it caused. I'm sorry, I completely disagree. The more singles before the album, the better in my opinion, as long as it's not over like 3 or 4.

albums are more important then singles. both musically and sales wise. if her singles underperform but still selling albums then that just means she made a good a good album which is more important then chart topping singles.

i think you can agree with that.

But she can both sell lots of singles and lots of albums. After the album drops people aren't gonna buy any more singles because they will already have the album.

so. they'll still play the songs on it. i don't see the problem with that. singles are only supposed to promote the album not the other way around.

Honestly I don't think it was the controversy behind the song that made it flop. If anything it would have promoted it a bit more! I think it underperformed because it was like the diet coke of Bad Romance!

nah because so many hits are rehashes. she sounds weird on judas. a lot of yelling and you can barely understand the verses.

I guess. But I still think that was the main reason it flopped.

wut.....some radio stations didn't even bother to put it on the demand list just of it's name, even more when she revealed the name of the song many countries banned it and churches raised flame

If Judas had different name would've probably do better than BTW

It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely

Honestly, the people who think the app will be released before the album are cray-cray :wtf:

:rip: it's logical that the app will be released before the album.

I'm not saying its NOT THE REASON, I'll agree the controversy was a factor. But not the main reason. GaGa herself didn't want Judas to be a single and I'm betting it was because of the BR similarities. ANYWAY - we are drifting off topic.

Lets get back to discussing the (non existent) ARTPOP news.

Shaney

That isn't by the same M.I.A who did Bad Girls

Oh, I must have mistaken it for her work because it's under her album list on Spotify.  Sorry! Haha

All of us should make an 11:11 wish on how awesome we want ARTPOP to be.

I just did it :awkney:

The record technically can't be ready before mid-June cause Zedd will only be able to hit the studio with Gaga in late May, that's the first time he gets a break off his worldwide tour.He said in the interview to MTV that he needs to be in the studio with Gaga and can't work over distance with her. He hasn't been in the studio with Gaga since she canceled the BTWB, and won't be able till end of May.

Conclusion: it seems like the record is planned to be done by mid-Summer and that's the earliest time for a single release. She can later perform the song at the MTV VMA 2013 in September, and her appearance at the show combined with Machete Kills premiere would be a cool escort for the rumored September ARTPOP release.

Nothing's wrong with this tactics, as it will give her time till mid-Summer to plan all the things carefully, shoot the music video, etc. The song will easily survive 5-7 weeks on the radio before she brings it onstage at the VMAs (she can do some interviews and radio shows before VMAs). To be honest, if the song is put out in mid-Summer by the time Gaga hits the VMAs stage the single will probably reach the top of Radio Songs + Pop Songs chart (if the song itself is good obviously).

The only problem here is possibility of the Grammy nomination split. But ARTPOP is about possibilities.  :derpga:
