I also believe that she deliberately picks her singles to define her career

Actually music labels decide that ****, not the artists :awkney: They only release singles to make money :rip:

I still cannot wait for ARTPOP.  It's hard to believe we've all been waiting for so long, but I truly think the final product will be beautiful and epic. I'm still hoping for a single in early May and then the album in June sometime.  I don't think it's all that likely but ya never know till ya know I guess  ;)

Thats not always true.  It depends on what the Artist/Label has agreed on and also how much freedom the label decides to give the artist.  For example: Interscope probably chose the singles for The Fame and The Fame Monster and then they probably let Gaga choose the singles for Born This Way due to her prior success.

It's always true. The label has the final decision. It's their money after all  If the song isn't popular on the radio, théy are the ones in trouble. Plus, Gaga wanted totally different singles for BTW, which she has confirmed herself

Let's not forget how much money/business influences her art.

Let Love Down

I also believe (despite the fact I skip the singles on Born This Way) that she deliberately picks her singles to define her career & that her new single will be completely different again.

Using the past singles as examples:-

Just Dance - made Gaga a pop star

Poker Face - made Gaga famous

Love Game - made Gaga s-xy

Beautiful, Dirty, Rich - made Gaga iconic

Eh, Eh - made Gaga cute

Paparazzi - made Gaga a superstar

Bad Romance - made Gaga viral

Alejandro - made Gaga catchy

Telephone - made Gaga dancey

Born This Way - made Gaga a role model

Judas - made Gaga controversial

The Edge of Glory - made Gaga inspirational

Yoü & I - made Gaga classic

Marry the Night - made Gaga fearless

The ARTPOP singles will/should make her everything she isn't -

-Hated

-Bitchy

-Spiritual

-Deluded

-Jazzy

-Envious

The possibilities are endless!

most of her songs are just controversial. Alejandro and Judas controversial. Religious.

an album that really lasts would just be  :flutter:

I'm so unpredictable. You don't know what to think......Is always harder the second time around.

UGH... Just saw this and for a split-second I got so excited lololol

The thirst is real

I remember Shakira.wakawaka

Well may God hear your prayers my sis....I'm with you into this Never said that I like 21. There are 2 maybe 3 decent songs the other is lame shiz

:lmao:  :lmao:  :lmao:  if they seriously call themselves like that

Never understimate '21'. It got a central theme about love.

'COADF' is a mixture of dance songs.

They both got huge success which you could hear all day long.

All successor got their central ideas and fully express it.

'BTW' is not being fully utilized comparing to '21'.

I used to imagine that ARTPOP would be even darker and more refined than Born This Way back in the early days of the making of the album and when she sang Princess Die for the first time, but it's clear that since then the album has made a change in direction. I now think that the album is going to be much more free sounding and fresher and that it's going to be light but not in a bubblegum-pop kinda way and not in the kind of way that she did The Fame. I don't think she's going to hold back on this album at all.

NO MORE DARKNESS. People have longed for a dance and relaxing one. Perhaps showcase her beautiful voice.

yeah, but don't forget for single #3 on TFM, the label wanted DITD and she fought hard for alejandro.

she has SOME influence, but you're right--the final decision is going to be the label!

You got it  I'm so happy she fought that hard for Alejandro

Honestly, I think she convinced them with the ideas for the music video :hor:

I still think that Interscope wanted Y&I as a single as they hoped that it would appeal to Adult Contemporary radio, Country radio, as well as Pop radio. They saw how well Adele was doing and wanted to release something from Gaga that could be something like that. And tbh it was a big hit when you actually look at the stats.

The label wanted to start the era with MTN but she chose Born This Way because she believed it was better for introducing the album. Also, I literally watched an interview yesterday where she specifically talks about how sometimes her label wants her to release a single because it's more marketable but she chooses otherwise.  In fact I've seen her mention it several times in interviews.

I wish Yoü and I would've slayed harder tho It's my favorite Gaga song :flutter:

Such an underrated song/video :hor: Do people even know what legend produced it? :wtf:

I heard it was the other way around tho. She wanted MTN to be the lead single, but the label wanted BTW. She didn't want to release Judas, but the label did. She didn't want to release Yoü and I, but the label did

She said in early BTW interviews how she wanted to release seven/eight singles :awkney:

I still remember when I was at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Carlisle and she sang Y&I and everyone was excited because it was new song. And I knew all of the words because I'd been listening to it for months on YT from The Monster Ball and everyone was looking at me like "what the hell??? how does he know the words?"
