Careful. Don't ever mock Capsule, Perfume, MEG, Kyarypamyupamyu, Yasutaka Nakata himself or any other works he has produced.

Capsule - JUMPER is a masterpiece of Electro/J-Pop.

The Little Monster fan base would be blessed if Nakata-san ever produced for Gaga.

I'm not mocking anything

No it doesn't, the breakdown is much better than anything on the radio. In fact, I don't hear much songs like that on the radio at all. What radio station are you listening to?

If that is generic, than so was TFM :laughga:

Right Now - Rihanna

Beauty and a Beat - JB

Sweet Nothing - Calvin

They're not extremely similar, but it's clearly the trend right now. (And that sound is absolutely EVERYWHERE in non-radio songs. I don't think Gaga should just focus on being a novel sound compared to other RADIO songs, I think she should be novel all-around. ARTPOP should be futuristic music).

For me anyways, the breakdowns are just getting boring. When I hear a song for the first time on the radio now, I'm like ok so when does the breakdown come. I like the idea, but Gaga should do something more different. I actually prefer something more like the Judas breakdown than this. I hope she can do something along the lines of Judas but more novel and creative to stand out in this EDM trend. I wish I could be more elaborate but I don't really know what the sound should be. I guess that is why I am not Gaga, and she is.

100% agree. Gaga and Nakata-san would be a dream team. I think their two creative perspectives combined would absolutely slay the entire music industry, worldwide.

This needs to happen. Everyone start flooding her inbox

the breakdown in judas is one of my favorite things that btw had to offer. Im really hoping that ARTPOP has a very new sound but still appeals to the masses. I like the short break in stache with the almost robotic ah-eh-oh- sound. Its definetly not what u hear most of the time on the radio

IKR @ Above, the breakdowns are EVERYWHERE! Literally every song these days has one. Where did it all begin? Starships by Nicki Minaj?

Oh, and to not go off-topic too much. I hope ARTPOP won't have any of these normal breakdowns that every song uses, I want something different. But it's really hard to say this myself, I want a sound that's futuristic and not a 2012-sound or 2013-sound, don't want sounds similiar to her previous albums either, the only sound which Gaga may keep doing is DITD and So Happy I Could Die.

I like that robotic part too, especially the same sound before the last part of the song starts :legend:

The earliest sort of breakdown I can remember was the one in We Found Love.

I wouldn't mind hearing them in ARTPOP so long as she handles them creatively in a distinctive style that differs from the ones we here in WFL, Starships, B&AB, Right Now, etc.

They should be unique enough used scarcely that I won't get sick of them after hearing the song for a few times. Like now when I hear Pound The Alarm or Starships, all I can think of is how annoying the little EDM breakdown has become.

The earliest song that I can rememberon radio that made the breakdowns popular was Party Rock Anthem. We Found Love came after that and then everyone started putting it in their already incredibly generic songs.

breakdowns have been in british music for a couple of years...

I think We Found Love was the first US hit with one

nonetheless I love breakdowns especially at parties and clubs... amazing because everyone just goes wild haha

GaGa knows what she's doing and so do the producers she's working with. I don't think its fair to consider the songs mentioned above "basic". They represent the modern Top 40 sounds that are heavily influenced by EDM. Now that doesn't mean that those songs on the radio are all that EDM is. They are just more mainstream and marketable representations of EDM. I don't see ARTPOP not being influenced by EDM. I think she's just going to take aspects of it here and there and then take it to another level. She and her producers have said they want to make music that no one has heard. So I think its very safe to say that ARTPOP will not sound like those songs exclusively but more like the black sheep of the extended family of Top 40 EDM music that you can't ignore because it's so different and can't help but to be taken back by it and love.

I remember hearing the break down in Hold It Against Me and thinking, "Woah...what is this? I haven't heard this before." Maybe that's one of the earlier ones?
