I bet Terry Richardson will shoot the cover. Which would be a cool change -- his stuff is so specific to him: color, bright flashes -- which seems like the general consensus that everyone wants.

Some of these posts about them not being sure how close ARTPOP is to even being completed has got me worried. It does seem bizarre that Rolling Stone, etc is writing "early 2013 release" but there is absolutely no news about it, and we're one month away from 2013. I understand not releasing a single in 2012, but what about the first single's title? The first single's release day? The album release? What's the harm in that? It does make you wonder if they're a little behind.

I think the first single will be a title that we haven't ever even thought of or discussed yet. And all of our minds will be blown when we find out the title.

just a random thought. :)

I'm Chloe. Except the C and the L are silent.

I wouldn't be against Terry shooting the album artwork. There's a candid freshness to his style that counteracts her typically over-thought, quite dense approach. I liked the 60's style to those black and white Paris shots, so that could be an interesting way to bring in the "pop art" reference without going cliche. Simple retro glam. I feel a proper collaboration between them would bring good results. As of now it's mostly candid, so there's a limit to composition and content.

As for how far along they are in the process, I suspect they're further than we may presume...but she's constantly developing new material so it isn't finished until she's happy/the deadline comes. If 7 songs were finished months ago, then she can't be too far off a full tracklist...it's just a question of finding the right tracklist. Not to mention she thinks there is enough material for TWO volumes, so it's obviously all there...just maybe not perfect yet.

Old quote from the Propagaga website. "So we chilled with Gaga talking about ARTPOP, the new record. She told us that like most of the new album is pretty much done, the music for the songs has been finished, the vocals and stuff still has to been finalized she said. "

From that old quote most of the songs have been written already, including core material. So she's got lyrics+melodies for most songs, and recorded demos so she can later fine-tune everything in the studio.

You remember, after the Asian+Oceania leg Dave Russel starting mixing the records and spilled some tea on "2013 is the new influence" and so on. Later, after London show, Vince told that they had 6-7 songs done completely. Which leads us to a conclusion: she is making music with producers during the leg of a tour, then Dave and Gaga are mixing the stuff and get it delivered to the label.

The scheme seems to be correct: after European leg of the Ball, she came to Chicago, where she probably recorded the songs she has done during the leg with producers (remember that DJWS was around and Madeon at least in Paris). After the break, when the Latin America leg started, Gaga tweeted that she has plans to separate music in 2 volumes, which makes us think she came up with many new records in Chicago.

Consequently, the upcoming break from before the North American Leg (from December, 12 to January, 11) is the time she's gonna spend fine-tuning the records which she did during Latin American Leg. But, again, she could easily work on the record during the tour, as Madeon will be around and she will be at least in the States (this girl flew from South America to Chicago to make "rekkids", so flying around states would be the easiest deal for her)

I guess that we could expect the album to be released towards the end of April, meaning lead single could be released somewhere in March.

Agreed. If the bulk of the album was written and in demo form when she played the album to Interscope this summer, and she's working with the producers/engineers in recording/mixing throughout the tour (Zedd - Asian leg, DJWS/Madeon - European leg, DJWS - LA leg, RedOne/Fernando - NA leg)...then it's all on time for a Spring release.
