DUDES she just wanted to emphasize her impact on pop culture. I mean come on, Gaga is the last person to hate on people who are inspired by her... she bases most of her looks on other inspirations, she's hardly original herself.

BTW I don't think that's a bad thing, she puts her own Gaga twist on things and honors pop culture. She's happy, not mad.

It's obvious that she was referencing the Miley Unplugged poster. No reason for her to tweet the Dope cover unless she was. It would have been completely random.

Remember when she shaded Nicki at the VMA awards with this?

Then she deleted it and said she was sorry and only trying to make a joke with her fans not seriously attack Nicki.

The funny part is that she's right. That tweet itself just influenced pop culture (for example, this thread about it and the reactionary tweets trending worldwide)

disagree with you here. why should you be accountable for how others react to it if they are reacting to it in the wrong way that was not your intention. Despite you saying the tweet had "shade," it is not clear and just based on our speculations. Why should Gaga be accountable for our speculations? 

Because Gaga is a grown women... If I say something or do something that ends up causing offence or if I say or do something that ends up having unforeseen consequences then I man up and apologise, regardless of what my intention was.

The tweet quite clearly referenced Miley. Do you think it is a coincidence that she posted the MTV poster that people were comparing to the Dope cover and then less than an hour later Gaga posts the Dope cover with the words "Pop Culture is my b---h"? If it wasn't referencing Miley then that is a massive coincidence. I would be curious to see how you would interpret that tweet because it seems pretty obvious to most people. Best case scenario (which I actually believe to be what happened), Gaga made a joke and didn't mean to offend anybody.

 

Despite her intentions, the tweet still comes of as shady and it still comes across as hypocritical from an artist constantly promoting her brand of #OnlineKindness. Do you see what that tweet implies? It implies competition and it encourages comparisons between different artists which is something that Gaga has been so against. I don't even see how you could argue against that, the fact that she referenced Miley and put the tagline "Pop Culture is my b---h" is immensely hypocritical.

When did she say this? 6 days ago she was on Little Monsters.com criticising people who use the word 'flop'. 10 days ago she was saying that if your criticise others in any way, you are only criticising yourself. The only reason you are saying she has changed her idealistic stance is because her tweet is so clearly contrary to the unrealistic standards she has set for her brand of #OnlineKindness. It is hypocritical.

Riiiiight it isn't obvious that Gaga's tweet was referencing Miley even though everyone was discussing the similarities just before she tweeted but it is clear that Gaga's entire ideological outlook on OnlineKindness has changed within the past 3 days.

I don't think I have to walk on glass, I am a person with a rather strong conviction who isn't frightened to express my opinion. I'm not even worried if people are offended by my opinion. However, when I make a foolish statement that comes across as hypocritical and when my words and actions have unforeseen consequences which I did not intend then I take full responsibility for the words I speak and the actions I take.

I think it shows a lack of maturity when someone does not take accountability for the words they have said and the actions they have taken. Gaga might not have intended to be shady, but the fact is her tweet does come across as shady and encourages the sort of competition and comparison that she has so strongly objected too.
