The higher the figures are, the more they'd be keen on using it - just to present Gaga's brand in a more impressive way. While the stats from her team may not be accurately true, it isn't something unusual either. Pop stars before her have used this tactic anyway (i.e. using the higher figures a.k.a. shipments in press releases). I get your point :) By the way 1.7 million is not so bad when you look at the promo of ARTPOP.
