It's like they have set artists that they will wh*re out no matter the song (i.e. Rihanna, Maroon5), but don't may attention to what people really want to hear. It's so aggravating. No. After the first week of a lead single artists like Maroon 5, Katy, and Rihanna do not have deals or payola or any of that crap stans use because they're mad that radio likes a certain artist. Gotcha. I've read somewhere that Katy sent in cakes to many different radio stations though. So that isn't overtly "payloa" per se, but it still seems manipulative. It's basically the same as a radio interview but without going to the studio. For G.U.Y, Gaga went to several radio stations to try and give it a starting push.
