monketsharona 90,138
sorry but there is no excuses for Nicki that's still a hip-hop album... To be honest I don't understand why people thought it would have been a huge success... She's still doing fine and that's a great album.. Most of her fans really don't care about sales and they're fine with it... Now only generic pop music without real depth is working in charts... That's sad but it seems like people love simple things now...

Luc 4,776
that's not a lot of #1 :haha: Big countries only. It's quite good for preorders tbh. To think Gaga was top 5 on itunes in japan from 1 sept till like mid december while madonna cant even on her first day... I don't think she'll visit Asia/Australia next tour by the looks of it. Or another explanation is that Madonna appeals to an older demo in Japan rather than the Avril/Gaga/Ariana demo of 16-30 year old Japanese women which use iTunes. GagaMyBlood95 9,915
I don't think Madonna can turn this album into a success tbh, but I also think that she doesn't even care since she is just releasing albums because of her contract, 90% of her money will come from the tour and she's Madonna - it will sell definitely no matter if the album is a flop or not.. Gagamel 3,410
It's mostly the release time. Had she released 2 months earlier, she would've gone top 10 everywhere. But she didn't, because they thought holidays = money. They didn't think about the possibility of a declining fanbase and ARTPOP-like media hype where the album is decribed a colossal flop without looking at the context - which is the biggest sales week of the year, which Nicki not so surprisingly didn't profit from that much. But still like Nicki is a big name atm, like gaga, so i really expected AT LEAST a top 10 in the UK as the worst case scenario after her previous album debuted at #1... her charting is just exceptionally awful tbh (I absolutely love the album btw so eff off nicki stans) Do we know how much it sold in the UK?
